Information on Hydroponics and more

There are many different hydroponic systems on the market today. This system allows a slow moving stream of fertilizer solutions (film) to be placed over the roots of the plants that have been placed on sloped channels. When the timer shuts off the pump, the nutrients are drained back into a holding tank and provide a rush of oxygen to the plant roots.

- The Drip: This hydroponics system is also controlled by a pump and timer, and can be used as either a recovery or non-recovery system. Some of these hydroponic supplies consist of:

- fans
- air cleaners
- huts
- ionizers
- pumps
- lighting systems
- cooling systems
- odor control products

There are a variety of different systems available; however there are only a select few hydroponic systems that the others are based upon. These hydroponics systems are:

- Ebb and Flow: this works by occasionally flooding the plant bed in different set intervals of time and with the help of a pump.

There are a variety of benefits for using your choice of the many hydroponic systems for doing your indoor gardening:

- plants growing indoors that use hydroponics tend to grow more quickly than their counterparts grown in soil
- indoor gardening can be done throughout the year
- hydroponic systems can be placed in small spaces anywhere; ideal for the apartment dweller hobbyist and classrooms
- plants growing indoors are less likely to contract diseases and pests
- indoor gardening is possible thanks to the help of artificial lighting available on the market today
- is less demanding as it requires no digging, top-soil maintenance or weeding

Thanks to the help of new technology there is a large selection of hydroponics supplies available on the market today.
Hydroponic systems allow greenhouses or the home hobbyist a method of growing plans through the means of using mineral nutrient solutions as an alternative to soil. When this stream reaches the end of the table, the stream flows into a holding tank and is used over the plant roots again during their next feeding cycle.

- Aeroponic: This one of the hydroponic systems that produces a continuous thin mist of nutrient solution on top of the plant rooms.

This pump floods the plant roots with nutrient solution for a short while. Although using hydroponics were not realized until the 1800s, hydroponics have been come a key player due to their capacity of being used where the ground and/or climate cannot support growing plant life. The non-recovery indoor gardening drip system works in the same way, however it does not allow for accumulation of nutrients and it does not recycle that excess.

- Nutrient Film Technique (NFT): This worldwide used growing system was developed in order that plants can be grown in areas that are known for their deprived soil quality. This system drips nutrient solution on the plant roots, while the excess nutrients are collected within a holding tank and re-used.
