Satchel Paper Valve Bag Vs Plastic Valve Bag

Plastic valve bags are heat sealable and available printed or plain. Plastic valve bags are made using monolayer, multi-layer with anti-slip for greater stability for handling and stacking, and co extruded (three layer) films. This increases productivity and reduces worker exposure to the products themselves. From a consumer stand point the bags can be stored outside and you won't have to worry about moisture contaiminating your product.

------

www.bags4stuff.com The total end-to-end solutions for plastic valve bags from the initial design and engineering, samples, tooling, the production, and the contract packaging and shipment to the final customer.

To find the right company is to find one that handles all production and prototype tooling and printing plates for plastic valve bags in-house, saves the customers time and money. These particular plastic valve bags are made to melt at certain temperatures and to dissolve completely. Plastic valve bags are made with FDA approved components. The printing of plastic valve bags are now printed up to 8 colors using the latest generation of equipment and technology. The most important aspect of the plastic valve bags is it reduces worker exposure to small particles floating in the air and improves the workers work area. You want to make sure you have a complete engineering and design department in-house and if they are ISO Certified will make you comfortable that your product is made the same every time.

Plastic valve bag styles again are Bigplac Valve Bag (Satchel), Valvoplac valve with special ventilation pattern, leak proof valve bags, open mouth bag with bottom gusset or open mouth bag with bottom gusset you can now incorporate a handle.

Satchel plastic valve bags replace the paper style bags for added protection due to puncture resistance and storage of bags outside in the environment.

You can even produce plastic valve bags with an Valvoplac or R Valve style that are batch inclusion/low melt bags that melt at 200 to 210 degree F. Using monolayer, multi-layer and co-extruded (3 layer) films, along with various options such as micro-perforations that allow products to ``breathe``, embossing patterns to keep pallet loads secure, and anti-slip materials for greater stability and stacking,

Features of using Plastic Valve Bags Styles they are made out of Polyethylene or Laminated Films you can add additional features like embossed (non skid) and ventilation patterns and now new sytles offer you leak proof valves other options is to have the bags left plain so you can add an adhesive label or print up to 8 colors these are the benefits of plastic valve bags.

Passive Solar Design

Thermal mass acts to control temperature swings from night to day. If this house has floors and walls which can recieve and store this energy for later release after the sun goes down will utilize this energy during the day and night. They heat up too quickly and conversely give up it's heat too fast. Dark colors of stone, cement, tile, adobe brick, and masonary make a good battery for solar radiation, or what is otherwise know as "Thermal Mass". The battery portion of the house are the materials and mass that is contained within it's walls that have the capabilities of storing the solar radiation that comes through the windows. A house that is properly oriented with enough windows facing south will recieve a large amount of energy on a sunny day in the middle of winter. How efficient is your house as a battery, that is, how well does it charge up and save the free heat that the sun provides during the day and how well does it give back this heat during the night when! needed? Conventional materials such as gypsum wall board for walls and wood floors make for poor storage of solar energy. Obviously, good insulation is a paramount component to good passive solar design.

To view illustrations of my Pasive Solar Energy design for a house that I am building in southwest Colorado, visit my website listed below.

Jerry McElroy is a writer, photographer, and artist who is building an energy efficient, off-the-grid, straw bale house in Southwest Colorado.
Passive solar design takes advantage of both summer and winter sun angles for free cooling in the summer and heating in the winter. How cool (or hot) is that? http://www.labocavista.com is an on-line documentary which explains the design and components of the house and discusses the environmental challenges that we as humans face.

One way of thinking about your house when it comes to the sunshine that falls upon it everday is like that of a battery. Conventional construction without the attention to passive solar design can over-heat during the summer days and require mechanical cooling and cool down during the night in the winter requiring mechanical heating. Larger roof overhangs will block the sun from entering the house during the summer when the sun is high in the sky but allows it to enter the windows and warm the thermal mass when the sun's angle is low in the winter time.
Passive solar gain,... it's free and completley pollution free! It can be as simple as paying attention to the orientation of the house, placement of windows, the length of the overhang of your roof, and the kind of floor and walls chosen.

Japanese knotweed removal services expanding, but beware of ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂinstantÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂàsolutions

This results in it growing very quickly and being very hardy and thus flourishing in a variety of harsh locations and disturbed human-influenced environments.

However, beware of an increasing number of companies claiming to remove Japanese knotweed over night. It is essential to treat all below ground growth for complete Japanese knotweed eradication, as this rhizome (root) material can grow to form new plants from just one gramme of material and can remain dormant for some time before spreading out again in the site and invade again all the cleared space. The British government has actually placed a conservative total cost on complete United Kingdom Japanese knotweed removal at £1.56bn.
Japanese knotweed removal is a growing problem in the United Kingdom today, and has been a concern for some time already. Thus choosing the right company is vitally important to get a professional, expert and bespoke Japanese knotweed eradication service.

Japanese knotweed was introduced to the United Kingdom as an ornamental plant from its original habitats, which include the volcanic soils around Mount Fuji in Japan hundreds of years ago, which is why the weed is called “Japanese Knotweed”. Getting the right Japanese knotweed eradication strategy is vital for efficient and cost effective removal, and can be very different depending on the site requirements and the client’s needs. These instant Japanese knotweed removal solutions are often vastly exaggerated claims and do not fully remove below ground root systems. An area the size of London is now affected by those invasive weeds and thousands of sites are contaminated with Japanese knotweed. Potentially, Japanese knotweed removal can add hundreds of thousands of pounds to site development costs, and expert advice should be sought from professional companie! s who can provide bespoke Japanese knotweed solutions to save time and money in dealing with this invasive weed problem. This simply means that the plant grows well in the United Kingdom’s less harsh conditions and Japanese knotweed out competes native vegetation completely.

Japanese knotweed is so damaging mainly because it can grow through drains, walls and even concrete floors and up to a rate of 4 inches a day, which is quite amazing for a weed. Eradication is vital for site development and complete removal of Japanese knotweed is essential to remove the problem, as even small amounts of root material can grow to form new plants and spread again in the site. This also results in the plant having impressive and fast regeneration techniques even when all aboveground growth is removed.

Marine Art Collection of Eugene Boudin

She written many articles like Maritime art, Marine paintings, Maritime gallery For more information visit our site Marine Arts and Artifacts. He was inspired from the motivation, encouragement and artistic work of the painter when he was working in the framing business. His favorite subject will mostly relate to charming dressed ladies and gentlemen of bourgeoisie walking along the beach side.

Boudin was a large self skilled marine artist who likes the members of Barbizon school where he worked sometime with the nature.
Eugene boudin, the famous marine painter was born in the year 1824 on July 12. Eugene was one of the famous French landscape maritime painter who comes up with more paints related to outdoors. He was the famous French impressionist painter where he took for the first impressionist exhibit in the year 1874. People use to enjoy the marine art of Eugene boudin and he was the one who use to exhibit the specialty of marine. Contact me at shijinaseo@gmail.com. Generally, the maritime paintings of Eugene will be based upon the open air starting from the sea and ends on the shore. Majority of his drawings looks to be small scene of contemporary beach resorts in northern France. He studied at louvre and established contact with Barbizon painter. Eugene boudin wide collections of marine arts will be available in the nautical antiques to facilitate the visitors or general people. He was skilled amazing excellence of marine paintings and charming portraits.

The work of boudin looks to be light tender in quality, colors seems to be attractive and flourishing and sparkled portrayal of nature and its atmosphere. Though he was described as the painter of beaches, the beach in its painting occupies full of canvas and it appears to be large, luminous sky that dominates in the work.

He opened a frame shop in Le Havre and was encouraged to take up the paintings by the painter jean François millet. He visited Paris and met young Claude Monet and introduced himself to be outdoor painter where they two worked together in the late 1860. The painting of Eugene comes to the end in the year august 8, 1898. Boudin was figured to be 19th century marine artist who spend most of his time on coast paintings, beach scenes and seascapes. He started his life time career as famous marine artist where he was encouraged by the famous painter. The great expert was born in seafaring family and almost his every painting was related to sea and sky.

How Did Life on Earth Begin?

How did life begin on that planet? To carry this to the next logical steps, investigators have produced peptides, but in relative small amounts. If dry amino acids are heated from week or so at 1200 C, large numbers of protein-like molecules with molecular weights of about 10,000 can be produced. These were cluster of proteins and nucleic acids. Most scientist believe that protocells , the precursors of modern-day cells, developed first . Many experiments along this line have been done within the last 20 years. Similarly, polymers of nucleotides can be produced,

This brings up an important question, which came the first protein (the chicken) or the nucleic acid (the egg)? At some points, single single â€ÂÂ"stranded DNA appeared with its unique properties of increased stability and faithful self replication. Further evolution over about 3 billion years gave rise to what we see around us.

W.G.P.Kanchana all rights reserved This was indeed a big quandary until the early 1980’s when Thomas Cech discovered for the first time that nucleic acids, specifically RNA, could also catalyze reactions.
There are a variety of scientific opinions about how life on earth began.

How did cells arise? Eventually protein was able to carry out catalytic functions better than RNA. It would seem that you can not have one without the other. The protein catalyze biological reaction including synthesis of nucleic acid s provide the information required to make proteins. RNA molecules then began to synthesize proteins, eventually arranging them according to RNA templates. The RNA molecules evolved in sell replicating patterns, using recombination and mutation (RNA mutation is much more rapidly than DNA mutation) to explore new functions and adapt to new niches. Billions of years ago nucleic acid evolved more capacity to encode new proteins that stabilized the protococells, and primitive bacteria arose. When plausible conditions on primitive earth are simulated in reaction vessel, many simple organic compound s of biological significance from spontaneously and in relative abundance these includes amino acids, aliphatic hydrocarbons, sugar, purines,! and pyrimidines, which are the precursors of proteins and nucleic acids. Some believe that life on earth arose from outer space, either as primitive cell or as DNA deposited from another planet. The hypothesis that life began on some far-off planet, at best, simply begs the question. A more scientific explanation is that life slowly formed under conditions present on our planet 4 to 5 billion years ago, Evidence supporting this idea has come from experiments in the laboratory that reconstruct the of the primitive earth. This was true an astounding discovery, and in 1989 he was awarded the Nobel Prize.

It is now postulated the evolution began with RNA molecules performing the catalytic activities necessary to assemble themselves from nucleotide precursors.

what kind of weather to expect in phoenix

Generally speaking, one could describe the weather in Phoenix in one word: warm. This is a very important aspect in considering how comfortable you feel when you are out and about. The average temperature in Phoenix is comparable to that found in Ft. Myers, Florida, which averages 74 degrees; Honolulu, Hawaii, coming in at a balmy 77 degrees, as does Key West, Florida.

You can also rely on many clear and cloud-free days in Phoenix. Late summer through winter and spring are when the humidity is at its highest, while it is low in late spring and early summer. What this means is that outdoor activities, such as hiking or golfing, are easy to participate in year round in the mild climate found here.

The relative humidity also remains at a pleasant level. Cloud, Minnesota will undoubtedly be jealous by this fact, because their average is a chilly 41 degrees. This is a great feature for amateur astronomers, who require clear skies for proper telescope use, but it also applies to anyone who enjoys looking out their front door at night to enjoy the night sky.

As you might expect with all of this warm weather, it tends to be on the dry side in Phoenix. With January averages at 53 degrees and July topping out around 93 degrees, you'll find that the lifestyle of people living in Phoenix Arizona condos contains many days of "shorts and tee shirt" weather. For example, Key West, Florida has an average relative humidity of 80 percent. What to expect from the weather will play a part in how you spend your time in this delightful city. This tends to not be as much of a problem in Phoenix where, although it is hot, the heat is drier. Along with hot summer temperatures, it makes for an unpleasant, sticky and sweaty time if you wish to go for a run or even just walk around town running errands. The year-round average temperature is a pleasant 72 degrees, however.
No matter where you live in Phoenix, you will be constantly amazed by the local weather. Two-thirds of the days of the year will be clear and crisp. Your friends in Fargo, North Dakota and St. When you make a purchase of Phoenix, Arizona real estate with the help of a successful Phoenix real estate agent, you will have the help you need to move into the best home for you. With an average annual amount of rainfall measuring in at 7.7 inches, you will discover that the most rain falls in August, surprisingly, and December, while the driest months occur in May and June. Cities on the East Coast, especially in the summertime, tend to be plagued with high humidity.

What Oil By-Product is the Leader in Recycling

Another of the myriad products produced from crude oil drilled by oil companies like Western Pipeline Corporation.

In the United States, 96% of paved roads and streets are surfaced with asphalt. It is mixed with dried crushed rock, gravel or stone to make asphalt. Some recycling programs use asphalt along with rubber chips from old tires to create materials for sidewalks and walls. This by-product is a binding agent and is called asphalt cement. It can be thought of as an adhesive. New roads, roadbeds, shoulders and embankments are made with recycled asphalt.

Asphalt is a by product of the residue left behind after the manufacture of gasoline, kerosene and diesel fuels from crude oil by oil refineries. Refined petroleum asphalts were used to soften the natural asphalt starting in the 1870’s and by 1907 refined asphalts was being used solely to produce asphalt. It is economical, durable and available. Asphalt is also used in varnishes, lacquers, and inks, waterproofing and insulation materials and floor tiles. It is also used to line storage ponds, dams, and irrigation canals.
Most Americans recycle today.

Asphalt pavement is 100% recyclable. In fact it is the oldest adhesive known to man. It can be constructed and repaired quickly, provides a comfortable riding surface and offers waterproofing. Automobiles increased the demand for roads and the by-product of oil refineries that produced the gasoline to fuel the automobile were used to create the roads to drive on â€ÂÂ" a early type of recycling.

Bob Jent is the CEO of Western Pipeline Corporation. Western Pipeline Corp specializes in identifying, acquiring and developing existing, producing reserves on behalf of its individual clients.

Prior to 1900 almost all asphalt used for roads was natural asphalt imported from Lake Trinidad and Bermudez Lake in Venezuela. One thing that wouldn’t come to mind would be asphalt. Eighty percent of the asphalt pavement that is removed each year during widening or resurfacing projects is reused. However, asphalt is the most recycled product in the United States at 80%. It can actually be made to perform better the second or third time around. Asphalt heated to a high temperature forms the basis for the creation of asphalt roof shingles which make your roof water repellent and secure.

Asphalt roads are recycled by removing, crushing and mixing additional aggregate and fresh asphalt cement, remixing and placing it back on the road. The hot mix asphalt industry also accepts the following recycled materials: rubber from used tires; slag from the steel-making process; roofing shingles; and sand from metal-casting foundries. If someone were to ask you what is recycled the most the likely answer would be one of the following: newspaper, magazines, aluminum cans, plastic and glass beverage containers and plastic jugs.

Why to use Carbon Filters

The useful working life of these filters can be extended substantially be using them in conjunction with HEPA filters, however. If you are serious about maintaining the health of your hydroponic systems, you’ll want to invest in a good air purification system as well.
Why to use carbon filters. You’ll be hard pressed to find a more cost-effective and efficient method of water and air purification than activated carbon filters. Carbon filters, because of their unique chemistry, are excellent at doing this job and in fact are used aboard submarines of the U.S. There are several types on the market today that are available via mail order online as well as local purveyors of hydroponic supplies, and you’ll need to change out your carbon filters periodically.

Why Carbon Air Filters?

Like people and animals, plants benefit from fresh air, and air purification systems can be the environment free of organic contaminants that can damage indoor gardens and compromise the health of hydroponic systems. Therefore, it is necessary to change these filters as recommended by the manufacturer. Carbon air filters are less effective when it comes to inorganic chemicals however. In addition, HEPA filters can trap particulate matter that carbon filters may miss â€ÂÂ" and vice-versa
This is not usually an issue, because plants don’t give off such chemicals, and it’s unlikely that any chemical toxins will enter your garden space unless you live next door to a DuPont or Union Carbide facility.

There Are Limits

Activated carbon filters can absorb a tremendous amount of organic contaminants, but eventually reach the saturation point. These granulated activated carbon filters have a much larger surface area, and thus are better for air filtration than the powdered variety of activated carbon air filters.

It’s Pure Magnetism

Carbon is “activated” by oxygenation, which creates millions of microscopic pores on the surfaces of the granules in which organic molecules become trapped, as well as chlorine. Navy.

This last fact is also applicable to you; without proper air purification systems with activated carbon filters, your indoor horticulture project is likely to give off unpleasant smells.

Choices

You can choose from three different kinds of carbon filters; however, these are not all effective for air purification.

The three major types are:

• Powdered activated carbon (PAC)

• Granulated activated carbon (GAC)

• Extruded activated carbon (EAC)

In addition, there is “impregnated” carbon, polymers coated carbon and activated carbon fiber, which is actually a form of cloth. The granulated GAC type is actually the best for use with hydroponic systems and indoor gardens.

What is a Carbon Footprint?

“Greenhouse gases” have the same effect on Earth as a greenhouse; letting sunlight in and keeping heat from escaping. These are probably the biggest contributors to your carbon footprint; they include electricity demands and transportation.
Carbon Footprints are made up of two parts, the direct or primary footprint and the indirect or secondary footprint. BeGreennow.com empowers you and gives you the information you need to take an active role in neutralizing your carbon emissions and reducing your impact on global warming. These are a few things you can do to offset your personal carbon footprint:
• Walk to your destination if possible instead of driving.
• Recycle glass, metals, plastics and paper.
• Select the most energy-efficient models when you replace your old appliances. Look for the Energy Star Label.
• Turn off and unplug stereos, radios, TVs, and DVDs when you leave home for a few days.
The greenhouse effect is the increase in Earth’s temperature caused by the growing amount of certain gasses in the atmosphere â€ÂÂ" nitrous oxide, methane and carbon dioxide. An average tree absorbs more than 650 pounds of CO2 over its lifespan. The secondary footprint is a measure of the indirect CO2 emissions from the entire lifecycle of products we use from their manufacture to their eventual breakdown in the ecosystem. These appliances have a stand-by function that uses energy even when they are turned off. The greenhouse effect is important to human life; without them would be too cold to live on the Earth.
By burning fossil fuels we have tremendously increased the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere so that Earth is now heating up excessively, the process called “global warming.”
There are many things you can do to offset your Carbon Footprint, and the best one is to plant a tree! The primary footprint is a measure of our direct emissions of CO2 from the burning of fossil fuels. Trees act as natural filters of our air; through the process of photosynthesis they absorb Co2 from the atmosphere and store it in their trunk, branches, leaves, and roots while releasing oxygen back out. Be part of the solution to save the world from ourselves; we are all part of the problem.

We all contribute to global warming every day.
• Only run your dishwasher when full; let dishes air dry
If you are interested in learning more about offsetting your Carbon Footprint check out http://www.begreennow.com/. There are simple tips to begin decreasing the energy you use each day, and offset the rest of your carbon-emitting energy use using their easy-to-use carbon calculator and Carbon Footprint Offsets. Co2 increases greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming.
You can offset your carbon footprint by changing things that you do in your daily life also.
Our carbon footprint is the direct effect our actions and lifestyle have on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide emissions.

Using Ozone generators for gardening

Available at most online and brick-and-mortar retail outlets that deal in hydroponics supplies, ozone generators have been used to clean and sanitize those difficult-to-clean HVAC systems in the ductwork of residential homes, commercial buildings and sea-going vessels.

Although ozone generators are not the cheapest indoor gardening supplies you’ll invest in your hydroponics gardening career, they definitely have the highest performance-to-cost ratio â€ÂÂ" and best of all, there are no filters to replace! Nonetheless, these to have limits and must be switched out at regular intervals.

HEPA filters, while tremendously effective in eliminating many contaminants, have the same drawback â€ÂÂ" they must be replaced at regular intervals.

The Beauty of Ozone

You may have heard of ozone in science news; it actually occurs naturally in the planet’s upper atmosphere. Hydroponics gardening can be a rewarding activity, allowing you to enjoy seasonal plants, fruits and vegetables year around.

The main drawback of activated carbon filters is that they can only absorb a limited amount of organic contaminants; except for chlorine, they are useless for filtering inorganic substances, and in any event, must be replaced regularly.

Some companies offer carbon filters in which the granules have been treated with polymers or volatile oils, increasing their effectiveness in trapping and absorbing the odor-causing micro-organisms. Ozone generators give you the most air purification “bang” for the buck.

However, without a proper air purification system in place, you’ll soon wind up with a heavy, unpleasant musty smell due to the organic wastes that are a product of indoor gardening.
ozone generatorsare one of the latest, most effective solutions to the problem of air purification when it comes to indoor gardening. These “micropores” trap organic particles that cause unpleasant odors resulting from hydroponics gardening. Ozone generators can be among the most valuable gardening supplies you can have.

Traditional Air Purification

Most air filters use activated carbon. You’ve also probably smelled it if you have ever been around electric toy trains.

Ozone is what is known as an allotrope of oxygen; instead of a single molecule, it results from the bonding of three oxygen molecules. Most people don’t realize it, but oxygen is actually toxic in large amounts; therefore, ozone is triply toxic.

This is actually a good thing, however; instead of simply absorbing and trapping odors, ozone generators actually destroy indoor gardening odors at their source by killing off the micro-organisms that cause them â€ÂÂ" including mold, mildew and various kinds of bacteria.

Ozone generators have been used for a long time in a wide variety of air purification applications. The carbon is activated by oxygenation, which results in millions of microscopic pores on the surface of the granules.

How Diamonds Are Formed

What happens is that diamonds are subject to much greater amounts of both - as much as 60,000 times that of normal air pressure at sea level, and up to 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.

To put this into perspective, the pressure of the air we live in is about 14.7 pounds per square inch. However, diamonds and coal are virtually identical from a chemical and geological standpoint. Both are made of carbon that has been subjected to heat and pressure. This is one reason that they are found primarily in the Great Rift Valley of Africa and in the Himalayan foothills where the Indian subcontinent plows into Asia.

These conditions have been replicable in the laboratory for over half a century; however, natural and artificial diamonds each have their own unique flaws, which are detectable by trained, professional gemologists.

One difference has to do with color as well; natural colored diamonds are not terribly uncommon, and come in a wide range of hues. In fact, four fifths of all that are mined are deemed unsuitable for diamond jewelry, and thus are used for industrial applications - primarily in activities that require cutting, drilling, grinding and polishing.

Since the 1950s, scientists have actually been able to manufacture artificial diamonds in laboratories as well. Some of these color variations can add tremendous value to a gem. Loose diamonds made artificially are almost always of the white variety; colored stones make up only one in every ten thousand. At 1083 feet below the sea's surface (the current scuba diving record), the pressure is over 482 pounds per square inch. Furthermore, the temperatures that cause this transformation into white and colored diamonds is over 800 hotter than the furnaces that are required in the melting and manufacture of steel.

Such temperatures and pressures only occur naturally deep under the earth's surface - so deep that even the deepest diamond mines can only reach these precious stones that have been brought close to the surface through tremendous geological activity. This has to do with the similarity between these and coal, the difference between which is more of degree than process. The important difference is that the former are not only pleasing to the eye and symbolic as jewelry, they are an excellent investment - and useful in industrial machinery as well.

Of course, gem grade stones are quite different - and far more valuable - than industrial grade. He is a consultant for GemFind.com, a trusted name in the jewelry industry since 1999.
There are perhaps no two substances more different visually or symbolically than diamonds and lumps of coal. When purchasing loose diamonds whether as an investment or for use in jewelry, make sure that such diamonds have been certified by an independent gemology professional.

Jonathon Blocker specializes in diamond jewelry and loose diamonds. Carbon that is transformed into diamonds is subjected to pressures of up to 882,000 pounds per square inch - over 440 tons.

Using Light Meters for indoor gardening

Much information about types of bulbs and reflector hoods is available elsewhere; once you have installed a lighting system however, you will need to do everything possible to make certain that it approximates natural sun conditions as closely as possible. Why? For the same reason that you don’t want to breathe in a tightly sealed space. You’ll then need to carefully monitor the pH balance; pH meters are the best way to make sure that your plants are growing in the best possible environment. Your indoor gardening supplies should definitely include a CO2 generator. Monitoring these conditions and maintaining control over them requires that you keep and maintain numerous kinds of meters and controls among your indoor garden supplies.

Acidity or Alkalinity?

Depending on the plants your growing indoors, your medium needs to have a careful pH balance between acidity (low pH) and alkalinity (high pH). This is an aspect of plant growing indoors that often gets overlooked. Light timers allow you to control the length of time your plants are exposed to your artificial “sun,” whereas light meters permit you to monitor elements such as brightness and wavelength. Growing indoors is not “rocket science,” but it’s definitely science.

Light Meters

The most money you’ll invest in indoor gardening supplies will most likely be for lighting. If you are using a highly alkaline medium such as rockwool (the most common choice), you need to amend it with an acidic substance. For this reason, it makes sense to buy the highest quality devices your budget permits; these are indoor gardening supplies that you don’t want to skimp on.
Remember that plants’ growth cycles are tied to the changing seasons, and the corresponding changes in the hours of sunlight as well as the angle at which those rays strike the earth.

Lots to Choose From

Meters and timers are the heart and soul of modern scientific growing indoors, and are the most important indoor gardening supplies you can own after a good lighting system.

CO2 Enrichment

Recall from your high school science courses that plants “breathe” carbon dioxide and “exhale” oxygen.
Soilless gardening is nothing new, and in fact dates back several thousand years; however, today’s indoor gardening supplies are definitely high tech. Just as you would quickly use up the oxygen in such an environment, so too do plants use up the CO2 in the enclosed spaces in which hydroponic gardens are maintained. Adding increased amounts of CO2 with a CO2 generator can also speed up the process of photosynthesis, thus maximizing plant growth. Although you are growing indoors in a soilless medium such as rockwool or even gravel, your objective is to duplicate the natural conditions under which your plants evolved.

Environmental Issues Effected by Hazardous Waste

This are products that are found right there! This goes for all countries, not just the United States.

Jeffrey Bane is an expert in handling hazardous waste operations With more than 15 years of experience. Also, have you heard about global warming? Well, hazardous waste materials also play their role in this phenomenon.

But if you thought only large companies are the ones responsible for the environmental issues effected by hazardous waste, think again.
It’s a secret to no one that hazardous wastes can become a huge problem if not dealt with correctly. This becomes an extremely difficult, expensive, and dangerous scene to clean up. If not, you have double repercussions coming to you. Also the United States Environmental Protection Agency seeks to regulate all aspects of hazardous waste, including: treatment, storage and disposal of. In this way, environmental issues effected by hazardous waste are intrinsically linked to professional and expert management of the waste. For example, the US created the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act as a requirement for managing, handling and transporting waste. By definition, hazardous wastes pose a substantial or potential threat to public health or the environment.

I guess you can see know why it’s very important to dispose of dangerous waste the right way. Environmental issues effected by hazardous waste vary from causing strange diseases on people and animals to killing them and everything around them. You'll find from professional hazardous waste programs to environmental effects of hazardous wastes. In your kitchen, living room, garage… Things like paint, thermometers, aerosols, batteries and even computers can create environmental issues effected by hazardous waste if not managed correctly.

This is no joke, and the international community as well as each sovereign government have created special restrictions when it comes to handling dangerous waste. There are a lot of household hazardous waste by normal people produced in their every day life. They would just go wherever the resources they needed to extract were located in, dump their toxic wastes, pickup and go to the next extraction site. This article is going to talk about why its so important to manage toxic wastes correctly.

Decades ago, large multinational corporations didn’t give much thought into managing their hazardous wastes. At his website www.expert-hazardouswasteoperations.com/ you can find links with all the information on dangerous waste and how to handle it you could ever look for. This worked for them pretty good at the beginning, but as the effects of hazardous waste in the environment started to show up, the world realized something was wrong. The first by means of environmental issues effected by hazardous waste, which in the end mean less money for companies and worse living conditions for everyone, and the second by federal crimes.

Cost of flights gaining altitude

Rail passengers were also up 18%. This can affect company profits and retail prices. Ever since the introduction of the new high speed 1 line, Eurostar has seen fantastic growth in passenger numbers. And it also seems more and more people are taking to the trains. So far this year I have taken over 50 short haul flights, and the costs for each journey are rising. Whilst trying their hardest to reduce carbon emissions they now face an uphill struggle against the ever increasing oil prices. This isn't just one airline though - this covers several of the UK's major domestic airlines.

Combine this with roadworks up and down the UK, our rail network more packed than ever and house prices dropping like a lead balloon and it's easy to see why the UK public is a little disgruntled of late.

Thankfully there is (a dim) light at the end of the tunnel. Many dairies in the UK have over 1,000 vehicles which get filled with half a million litres of diesel every week. To the average consumer eye, crude oil prices affect petrol at the pumps and of course air travel prices. More interestingly it was travellers from the midlands who contributed most to the increase in Eurostar tickets being sold. Take dairies as an example. From the first half of 2008, Eurostar ticket sales were up 25 percent on the same period last year. A typical flight between Edinburgh and London (if booked over seven days in advance) would usually cost around £75. As well as increasing congestion on the roads, this is also due to a higher demand for environmentally friendly transport.

This increase in popularity has also crossed the continent. Rises in the price of oil don't just spell higher costs at the pump - they also hit your wallet in many other ways.

Without doubt the worst affected seem to be the airlines. Travellers from Derby increased by 190 percent, with Sheffield, Nottingham and York all up around 125 percent.

So lets savour the higher demand for greener transport and keep our fingers crossed for the airlines and all other industries hit by the oil prices.
The price of a barrel of crude oil soared to over $145 a barrel in July 2008, and has remained over $100 since February 2008, and the near future doesn't appear to hold a price drop. Over the last few months this has risen to around £100. But rising oil prices have a much wider effect.

For example, transportation or packing services are affected which then has a knock on effect to many products and services. The reliance on batteries for power helps reduce fuel consumption, thus saving costs. Hybrid cars for example are becoming more and more popular and affordable due to the rising fuel costs. Figures released in April revealed that the number of miles travelled on the UK rail network reached a record-breaking high of 30.1 billion during 2007.

How grow lights impact plant growth

Grow lights impact plant growth depending on the amount of light they give and the quality of the light they emit.

Indoors, under artificial conditions, you are trying to emulate the useful parts of natural sunlight as much as possible for optimal plant growth, all other necessary ingredients being present. Plants grow using blue and red light, depending on the stage at which they are. If the bulb has been used for nine months or longer, the light they produce after this time period is usually 30 percent less than when they were new. A ballast controls the electrical current that flows through the electrical circuit. It is more efficient to select bulbs that have greater blue and red light output.

Another factor to consider when you are using artificial lights is the age of the light bulb you are using. All plants need three items to thrive: water, nutrition, and light.
If you live in an area with a short growing season, then you will likely want to get a jump start on the gardening year by starting seeds indoors, then growing the seedlings on under lights. This means that your plants are receiving 30 percent less light, but it costs you the same amount of money to run the inefficient lights. HPS lamps are high pressure sodium lamps, and they emit red and orange light and should be used with a hps digital ballast. This color light promotes flowering in plants. HID lights refer to high intensity discharge lamps and is a term used to describe both HPS lamps as well as halide lights. Since plants absorb a very small amount of green and yellow light, but instead reflect it away, this is the reason why plants look green. Of these three, inadequate indoor light is often the one that lays waste the best laid gardener's plans for ! strong and sturdy seedlings. Both of these types of lights require the use of ballasts. It is much more cost effective to replace them at the start of each growing season.

Use the right digital ballast with the different lamps available for growing plants indoors. What this also means is that the green and yellow light a bulb puts out is wasted on a plant. Halides produce blue light, which promotes plant growth. Since sunlight is much brighter than light from a grow lamp, you will need to leave the lights on for 12-18 hours per day to compensate for the lesser brilliance of the light from artificial sources.

The quality of light also plays a part in plant growth. They use blue light for energy, stem growth and chlorophyll production, whereas they use red light for reproduction, dormancy, as well as root and tuber development. Grow lights are the plant lover's answer to growing great plants indoors.

Reduce E-Waste with Electronics Recycling

Anything from a calculator to a laptop can be an environmental danger.
With new technologies emerging everyday, and more and more electronics becoming obsolete, our planet has a new challenge: what to do with electronic waste. Pollution from obsolete, broken or otherwise discarded electronics is known as “e-waste,” and is becoming a great concern for industrialized nations. E-waste is and will continue to be detrimental to the environment unless we take advantage of electronic recycling. It takes special facilities and technologies to take discarded electronics and recycle them in a safe and environmentally friendly way.

Now that the effects of this pollution are apparent, people need to not only become aware of the problem, but take advantage of solutions to fix it.

Although more people are becoming aware, most people still don’t understand the impact that electronic devises have on the environment. Most people don’t think to recycle their calculator, phone system, printer, fax machine or television. As a matter of fact, e-waste is the fastest growing segment of municipal solid waste.

What many people may not realize is that obsolete electronics devises are thrown out everyday and end up in landfills. Effective, safe and simple: electronic recycling centers can safely recycle all the devises listed above as well as speakers, plasma screens, copiers, stereos, keyboards and other electronics that you may never have thought about recycling. Find out if there is an electronic recycling center in your area to get your family, friends and business involved with the solution to e-waste.

K.S. They end up on the curb to be picked up and taken to the landfill. Everyday things that people throw out once they are no longer of use are causing serious environmental issues. Electronics recycling companies are doing just that in response to the need to effectively manage e-waste. Or that your cell phone’s LCD screen is toxic to the environment if not disposed of properly through an electronics recycling center?

Because of the severity of e-waste pollution, and the action taken by individuals and legislation, electronic recycling has become a multi-billion dollar a year industry. For more information on how you can participate in free computer recycling, please visit
www.electronicrecyclers.com
. Toxins like mercury, lead, selenium and arsenic are just a few of the chemicals and materials that leak from discarded electronics into the ground, contaminating soil, water, and eventually, people and wildlife. Louman writes articles on environmental news. What is concerning about this is that most electronics are made of metals and chemicals that are hazardous to the environment.

The good news is that people are becoming more aware of the problem of e-waste and companies are emerging to do something about it. Who would have known that your old television screen and computer monitor contained lead and arsenic?

You remember our articles explaining solvents right?
The release of these Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) into the atmosphere, can precipitate effects ranging from Ozone Depletion, to smog, and yes, to Global Warming too. These were dispersed into the sea, prompting debate on whether or not this was acceptable. If the refractive index is high, it will provide greater opacity when it is disbursed in a solvent.

However, Titanium Dioxide is manufactured by processes called the sulphate, and chloride processes that resulted in diluted Sulphuric acid being created as a by product. Even so, there is a distinct trend towards latex paints, and new innovations are popping up everywhere.
The term ‘Green Paints’ can not only refer to the overt effects of the paint itself, but the manufacturing process that is followed in order to obtain the paint ingredients. For example, Titanium Dioxide, is widely used in paints for it’s whiteness, and for the fact that it has high ‘Hiding power’. This refers to the refractive index of the material. They claim that they require more coats to achieve the same finish, and are not as long lasting.
However, with VOC’s being linked to dizziness, and asthma, public demand is only getting stronger, and the industry has no choice but to respond.
One solution, is to use Latex Paints, that are water based, with an acrylic resin acting as a binder. Public sentiment has only been getting stronger in the past few years, and unlike the 1990’s, where the introduction of Green paints bombed, the latest revolution is not going to end.

The crux of the matter however, is that painting experts maintain that, despite what the marketers say, paints without VOC’s don’t perform as well as paints that have them.
In this article, we will learn about them eco friendly paints. During the curing and evaporating process, paints release their solvents in the atmosphere. The International Agency for research on Cancer (IARC), has also classified Titanium Dioxide as an IARC Group 2B carcinogen, which means that it is probably an agent leading to the promotion of cancer in humans. In addition to being environmentally friendly - Water based means no more VOCs - Latex paints have several other advantages over traditional paints including washability, and better opacity (Ability to completely cover another color).
Of course, being water based means that the Latex paints cannot be used to paint iron, as it will speed up the rusting process. Despite this, Titanium Dioxide is widely used.
Given the serious health and environmental damage that paints can have directly through their effects, as well as indirectly through their manufacture, Eco Friendly paints are set to have a major impact on the industry, as well as changing the way we view paint. It also meant that all substances that were dissolved in the acid, would also be released into the sea.
Quite apart from more efficient manufacturing practices, Titanium Dioxide, when applied as an exterior coating, reacts with sunlight causing smog.

Grow light bulbs last longer with digital ballasts

Digitals come with circuitry that cuts off in dangerous situations. It will save you a lot of money over time to use a digital ballast that allows the grow bulb to put out twenty to thirty percent more light, yet will run on the same amount of electricity. You will want to get a grow light system in order to provide your plants with enough and appropriate light. In order to use these types of grow lights, you will need some type of ballasts. They also produce less heat, thereby increasing the safety. High pressure sodium lights produce light in the red end of the spectrum, which is useful if you are trying to get the plants to flower or produce fruits. An electrical ballast is used to limit the current flowing into a circuit. Some use more energy than others, and some offer more reliable starts that others depending on which you might select.

Digital ballasts offer several advantages that other types of ballasts do not. If you choose digital ballasts for your grow lamps, they will last longer.

There are different types of ballasts available.

Digitals ballasts are also safer than other models. Electrical ballasts also come with an instant start, rapid start, and programmed start. One is that they weigh less than other types, an important consideration when you are hanging several lights above your plants. Digital versions of ballasts have start up times that are quicker than other types of ballasts, and they come in compact designs, so you can fit more lighting into a smaller space.

These digital ballasts also allow the lamps to put out more light than with other ballasts. Another is that they run silently and have a greater efficiency than other ballasts, both of which save you aggravation and money. Digital ballasts can be used with metal halide lamps or with hps grow lights, or high pressure sodium, lights.

Metal halide lamps give off blue light, and this is what you need if you are trying to get your plants to send up new growth. If you choose HID, or high intensity discharge lights, you've made a great choice because the bulbs most closely imitate natural sunlight and they last a long time. A ballast is used to control the flow of currency through the bulb.
Growing plants indoors can extend your growing season, especially if you live in a cold-weather climate that makes gardening outside next to impossible in the winter. One of its benefits is that it helps the bulb operate at a higher efficiency. From hortilux grow lights and solarmax grow lights to any other brand of light you choose, there is a digital ballast that will match your needs and extend the life of your grow light bulbs.

Easy Ways To Make Your Home More Energy Efficient

There are many more, including unplugging unused appliances, turning off a light when you leave a room, and using cold water to wash your laundry. Shade trees should be planted on the sunny south side of your house, no closer than 15 feet to your home (otherwise the roots of the tree can cause problems with your homes foundation).
The average home spends a whopping $1500 annually on energy costsâ€ÂÂ"an energy bottom line that is much bigger than it needs to be, because a significant portion of that energy is wasted and lost.

Insulating your home is another way to stop energy loss. By changing from standard incandescent bulb to compact florescent bulbs (CFLs), you can cut that consumption dramatically. The good news is, changing just a few simple things around your house can make a big difference and save a lot of energyâ€ÂÂ"and money.

More than 10% of a home’s energy is consumed by light bulbs. Energy Star rated ceiling fans do the job even better, moving air more efficiently and using less energy than traditional ceiling fans. Remember, windows and doors aren’t the only place air leaks can occur. Ki also authors a blog covering Austin real estate.
All it takes is a little planning and the results can make a big impact on your energy bill.

Planting shade trees and wind breaks (such as evergreen trees) in your yard can also help with heating and cooling your home, in addition to beautifying the earth. Also make sure vents, recessed lighting and the attic accesses are properly sealed. By following some of these simple tips you can make the planet a better place by using less energy and put some extra money in your wallet.

Ki is a realtor in Austin.

These are just a few of the multitude of easy ways you can lower your energy consumption. A CFL uses 2/3 less energy and comes in a variety of styles, shapes and sizes. Circulating the air in your home allows you to set your thermostat higher in the summer and lower in the winter. Although the initial cost is a little higher than the traditional bulb, a CFL lasts twice as long and saves more than enough money in energy costs to pay for itself twice over. He has a site about Austin Texas real estate which includes a graphical search for Austin Homes. By checking the seals around doors and windows, you can prevent leaks and drafts that make your home inefficient by replacing old, worn-out weather-stripping and caulking.

Another way to save some money and energy is by using ceiling fans. Windbreaks are most effective on the northwest side of the house, planted in staggered or double rows. Adding door sweeps beneath outside access doors also increases insulation.

Japanese knotweed removal

But advice from the Environment Agency is fairly general; they state that during the removal of the invasive weed, the soil around it should be excavated to a 3 metre depth and 7 metre radius. As a hardy fast-growing invasive plant, the weed enjoys the climate and conditions in the UK as easily as its original habitats in Japan and China.

In the process of Japanese knotweed eradication it is important to take account of applicable legislation and relevant guidance. Little did they know how destructive the invasive weed would become.

For now developers must be ruing the day that the Victorian botanical enthusiasts introduced the knotweed, an invasive weed, as an ornamental plant.
The Environmental protection act 1990, and Duty of care regulations, 1991, make any Japanese knotweed contaminated soil controlled waste.
Third party litigation is also important, where you can be sued for costs and damages if you allow Japanese knotweed to spread from your property.

The Environment Agency also provides useful advice on Japanese Knotweed Control in their code of practice. The very real problem with it is the impact it has on buildings. It grows voraciously in harsh, disturbed conditions, and can regenerate from very small amounts of growth. The Victorians obviously admired its imposing height and soft, green, smooth, heart-shaped leaves, purple streaked bamboo-like stems and small, white flowers in late summer. However, using expert’s advice and professional experience, Japanese knotweed removal services can deal with the infested material and take a much smaller amount of soil offsite, resulting in huge cost savings.

It is now thought that Japanese knotweed affects an area roughly the size of London. The result of this would be too large an amount of knotweed waste to be handled cost effectively. However, the problem of Japanese weed removal is a clear one. The main UK legislation for eradication of this weed to be aware of includes:
The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, makes it an offense to spread Japanese knotweed in the wild.
Development and construction industries face a huge problem with the Japanese knotweed invasion. Consequently, this means that in the UK Japanese knotweed can completely swamp native vegetation.

This makes Japanese knotweed eradication very difficult and its spread can be rapid. Eradication is such a large issue and, also, it is one where relatively little is known by many so-called experts; the advice given for Japanese knotweed removal can be confusing. DEFRA has placed a conservative total cost of Japanese knotweed removal at £1.56bn. They can easily damage drains, walls, and can even grow through concrete floors; thus meaning the removal of the knotweed is essential before development begins.

EFFECTS OF AIR POLLUTION

Air pollution can be caused by both natural and man made sources.
This volume further helps to track approaches to valuing sickness and premature death that results from the air pollution. Because of the agency, the nations air quality improved over the last 20 years, but it is still not enough.
Things can become very interesting when they are viewed from a different angle and people start to reconsider all the consequences that may result from our human behaviors.
Mario K. These effects could go anywhere from minor irritation of eyes to a chronic disease, lung cancer and in some cases even death. Large section of individuals should be followed for at least ten years, measuring the air pollution and other factors, such studies are very expensive.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) keeps track of the air pollution, checks and reports the air quality in the US and all over the world. For most healthy people, symptoms of air pollution go away as! soon as the air quality improves.
Effects of air pollution on people can be tracked by using the value of a statistical life (VOSL). Indoor sources of air pollution include tobacco smoke and fuels for cooking and heating.
Air pollution has both, acute and chronic effects on a human health. VOSL does not measure things that would be required by or should be paid to an average person who dies in a road accident for example. The most accurate way to measure the impact of air pollution in a given area is to obtain both acute and chronic effects.
Air pollution is a growing problem in many countries all over the world. Major man made sources of air pollution include industries and cars. Young and very old people with any kind of disease are more at risk. People with a lung disease such as asthma may become very sensitive to air pollution. Some people may experience chest tightness. High level of air pollution is very bad for our health and in many cases can even cause death. It is important to know as to what VOSL does and does not attempt to measure. Younger people should be really serious what a person would pay today for a possible future consequences and risks that will result from the air pollution.
Air pollution can also effect humans through acid rain, by polluting drinking water. is located in Marlton, NJ. Chronic exposure to air pollution can lead to a premature death, short term air pollution can increase this chance.
Different people are affected by the air pollution in different ways.! This whole concept combines life years lost due to a premature death and years of a healthy life lost as a result of illness that resulted from the air pollution.
It has been researched that older people over 70 face an immediate risk of death from exposure to air pollution. He writes articles about the environment and how to save the planet.

Grow light reflectors help your garden

The primary advantage is that your cooling costs with LED bulbs will be greatly reduced. Being aware of this can help you to avoid injury; proper hanging, up-to-date wiring and avoiding the storage of flammable materials near grow light reflectors will keep your home safe.
The lights themselves use only 20 -30% as much energy as other types of grow lights.

What’s even better about LED grow lights is their economy. Which grow light reflectors you’ll want depends on several factors:

- Your indoor gardening supplies budget

- How much space is devoted to growing indoors

- How much light output is required for your hydroponics garden

- The amount of ventilation

That last point is an important issue.

When your grow lights are equipped with their own ventilation system, it is possible to place them closer to the plants themselves. While lights that are too hot can burn your plants, the reflector hood can easily burn you, and present a fire hazard as well. As you can imagine, unless you are using LED grow lights (discussed in more detail below), most grow lights generate a lot of heat (even fluorescents); therefore, your grow light reflectors shoud have good ventilation.

Why You Need Air-Cooled Light Reflectors

Air-cooled grow light reflectors are more expensive than those without â€ÂÂ" but the few extra dollars is definitely worth it, particularly if your hydroponics space is limited. Although the initial expense is higher, you’ll definitely save over the long run. Venting the heat created in small spaces is difficult, if not impossible without the use of awkward and unwieldy external fans.
Hydroponics and growing indoors mean using grow lights and grow light reflectors. There are different kinds of grow lights; you’ll want to use some kind of grow light reflectors in order to maximize the efficiency of your grow lights.

Decisions, Decisions

There is quite a selection of grow light reflectors on the market, currently ranging in price from under $40 to over $300. LED lights require no special modifications â€ÂÂ" they install into your regular light sockets â€ÂÂ" and last up to ten years. Self-ventilated light reflectors are usually equipped with glass heat shields for this very purpose.

Even if heat is not a problem in your situation, growing indoors can be greatly facilitated when your reflectors have built-in ventilation capabilities.

About LED Grow Lights

LED grow lights are highly efficient, yet burn at much lower temperatures than incandescent or metal halide bulbs.

There are three different kinds of LED lights from which to choose for different purposes; each one provides a different part of the spectrum, depending on your needs for growing indoors.

Be Careful!

If you are using anything but LED grow lights, you’ll need to exercise normal caution with your grow light reflectors.

Using LED grow lights

You may even find the “Green” variety useful, as plants don’t actually “see” this part of the spectrum.

Cost

Regardless of which kind of bulbs you wind up using however, you’ll find that the proper grow light reflectors will make sure that plants you are growing indoors will stay healthy. Air-cooled light reflectors with built-in ventilation usually have glass heat shields to protect the plants.

When using most standard types of grow light reflectors, you’ll need to take care not only for your plants but for yourself as well. The reflector hood can get very hot and can cause serious burn injuries if not handled properly; in addition, the heat generated can cause a real fire hazard if there are flammable materials in the vicinity. You might also want to consider the latest high-tech alternative: LED lights.

LED grow lights â€ÂÂ" a Cool Alternative

If your budget permits, you should definitely consider LED grow lights. You’ll find many different kinds of grow lights available; grow light reflectors are used in order to maximize and optimize light output of your grow lights.

Choosing the Right Grow Light Reflectors

Many different types of grow light reflectors are available from online and brick-and-mortar purveyors of indoor gardening supplies. Your choice of light reflectors will depend on:

• ventilation needs

• available space for growing indoors

• lighting requirements

• your budget

The first point â€ÂÂ" ventilation â€ÂÂ" is particularly important. These technological wonders are possibly the most efficient grow lights available, yet are much cooler than comparable incandescent, metal halide or even fluorescent ones.

Although they represent a greater initial investment, LED grow lights are the most economical lights now available, using as little as 20% of the energy required by standard bulbs.

LED (an acronym for “Light-Emitting Diode”) comes in three different varieties, each of which emits a different kind of light. They are an excellent investment in the success of your hydroponics endeavor. Cost depends on size, ventilation equipment, and more; expect to pay anywhere from about $35 for the most simple and basic grow light reflectors to about $400 for a large deluxe model with self-ventilation.

Just use some basic common sense, and you shouldn’t have any problems. Most types of grow lights used for hydroponics produce are great deal of heat, necessitating that grow light reflectors have a way of radiating that heat.
Grow lights and grow light reflectors are important components of hydroponics systems and success in growing indoors. You’ll find that many of these have built-in ventilation systems; otherwise, you’ll need to use external fans, which are bulky and unwieldy.

The Beauty of Air-Cooled Light Reflectors

You’ll quickly find that the extra expense of air cooled grow light reflectors is definitely worth it, because such reflectors allow closer placement to the plants themselves.

Data Logger Use in Environmental Monitoring

Whilst most data logger types can handle voltage and current inputs few are able to read serial devices. Many data logger models have a five volt supply available for this type of sensor. The basic data logger inputs required for these sensors are listed below:

Data Logger Temperature Sensor Inputs
The three main types of temperature sensors are thermocouples, PT100 sensors and thermistors. When the bucket fills up it tips, triggering a pulse from a reed switch to measure 0.2 of a millimeter of rainfall. As most pressure based depth sensors require excitation the data logger needs to be able to power the sensor. The new generation of Omni Instruments data logger models support the serial protocols used by the latest wind sensors.

So it can be seen that for environmental monitoring applications it is important to select a data logger with multi channel input capability which is able to support a wide range of sensor inputs

Omni Instruments has many years of experience of providing data logger equipment for these applications and can also supply compatible sensors.

Jim Furness is CEO of Omniinstruments Ltd, specialists in data logger and other instrumentation solutions For use with ultrasonic level sensors the data logger needs to be able to power a 4-20mA loop.

Data Logger Inputs for Wind Sensors
These are available with voltage, mA and serial outputs. A data logger must have a pulse input to work with a rain gauge.

Data Logger Inputs for Solar Radiation Sensors
Whilst many low cost data logger models can work with temperature sensors and rain gauges, the very low voltage output of solar radiation sensors can present a problem.
With worldwide concern about global climate change the use of data logger equipment to monitor a wide range of environmental factors such as temperature, solar radiation, rainfall, and water table levels is becoming increasingly prevalent.

Many modern data logger models offer long operation on internal batteries coupled with multi channel universal input capability. With a typical range of 0-20 mV to represent a range of 0-2000 WM2 a data logger needs a very low measurement range and high resolution to take meaningful readings.

Data Logger inputs for Water Level Sensors
Water level sensors are usually submersible pressure sensor types or ultrasonic non contact. The collector funnels the rain water onto a tipping bucket sensor. This makes them ideal for use in the field with a variety of environmental sensors. Thermocouples do not require external power making them ideal for use with data logger installations in remote locations. Thermistors are low cost and accurate, but are non linear so the data logger needs an internal look up table to read these devices accurately. PT100 sensors are very accurate, but as they are three wire devices many low cost data logger models are not compatible.

Data Logger Rain Gauge Inputs
A rain gauge is a barrel shaped device with a rain collector. Thermocouples require a data logger with high resolution and cold junction compensation.

Developing Your Child's Appreciation Of The Natural World

Don’t assume he will notice this. Often the real beauty is in these details, and these may be what inspires him to find out more.

4. The outdoors and nature is relaxing. Whilst out, touch things and encourage your child to do so. If possible, as early in their life as possible, develop a family habit of outside recreational activities. The visual impact is quite different. Whatever age of your child, take him out and about to areas of beauty â€ÂÂ" woods, beaches, estuaries, rivers, ponds, parks, nature reserves, animal sanctuaries, wildfowl centres, and take advantage of the beauty that appears at different times of the year, like Bluebell time.

3. Whilst useful and informative, we miss about 90% of what there is to experience - smells, design, feel, textures, colours and shapes. Visit http://www.chilledparent.com/Ebook.htm for her free ezine.

In today’s technological world we spend a lot of time at work, at the shops, or at home in front of the TV. Smell flowers and plants and point out what’s beautiful or unique about it. Make him aware of its finer details, details that are often missed by just a glance. The green grass is soft and relaxing as opposed to the hardness and dirtiness of concrete.

Encouraging an appreciation of the natural world and its beauty is a wonderful gift we can give our children, not just for today but for the future. Such an appreciation gives them a well-balanced and pleasurable view of the world about them.

Parenting back to nature. With all the technological developments and electronic toys and computers we have, man has not become more intelligent, only more reliant upon technology.

6. Do not feel your child is missing out this way. Instead of indoor or city centre pursuits, choose the outside pursuits.

2. Consider the possibility of having no TV in your home, so that your child is forced to go out and experience the world about him for interest and occupation. If we do see the natural world, mostly it will be through a TV screen. An appreciation of nature is a gentle de-stresser which your children, when adults, can enjoy and benefit from. Today’s children are missing out on the real beauty of nature.

So how, as parents, can we encourage our children to experience and appreciate the natural world?

1. If this sounds a daunting idea, read ‘The Chilled Parent’ â€ÂÂ" Effective Parenting, Peacefully and Powerfully, to find out how other families have lived happily without television.

7. Rita Offen is Author of 'The Chilled parent'. If they really are not interested, do not force them, but continue to enjoy the outdoors.

5. Just compare a piece of concrete or tarmac to a piece of green grass. In your home, encourage less reliance on digital stimulation and fill your home with traditional games, books and toys. Show that you are interested and excited by what you see. Some children may laugh at you or show no interest, but may well grow up to appreciate nature as adults.
