A Look at the Trend Toward Environmental Responsibility

This means, of course, offering products, services, and packaging that leave the world no worse off than it was before. The business of environmental responsibility is going to have an impact on this country in the next decade.

Speaking of carbon, the biggest overall trend in the American business landscape is a movement toward carbon neutrality. Of course, as with anything, analysts wonder how much of this supposed carbon neutrality is simply hype, and how much is truly an effort to move in a new direction. Each day we have an impact on the environment. We very much hope that it has provided some awareness to the reader our responsibility to limit any negative impacts arising from our actions toward the environment. Certainly people and government have been moving in a trend toward recycling for some time, but much of this new worry has come from explosive media damnations, such as Al Gore¡¯s documentary. Here we will take a look at how some companies and industries are responding to the science.

One of the first major retailers to take great leaps forward in environmentally conscious business practices is none other Wal-Mart. Of course, only time will tell if Wal-Mart remains committed to this new trend, but in the meantime they are becoming a recognized leader in the effort to clean up the Earth.

While there are still those wondering what happened to the electric cars that seemed like such an inevitable step in the last decade, the automobile industry is slowly embracing a move toward alternative fuel sources. While Wal-Mart has taken plenty of heat for its business practices in the past, few are coming out against these moves toward environmental consciousness.
The environment covers a range of varied issues, from ecology to energy from transport to recycling. While some of these programs and policies are undoubtedly just for show, other corporations are taking big strides in providing better products and services from a global warming standpoint. It is equally important that we seek to enhance the positive impact we create to ensure that the environment remains clean and safe for our future generations to enjoy.
There is also talk and research going toward hydrogen fuel cells in the future, though some members of the analytic community are skeptical. Perhaps
because they have gone above and beyond the call of duty when creating a layer of transparency to their efforts. The company has made headlines in recent years through concerted efforts to lower toxicity levels in their products, move away from plastic packaging which can take a toll on the environment, and an increased focus on the sale of long lasting fluorescent lightbulbs. These movements come as gas prices in America are reaching record
highs and there is increased pressure to find ways of decreasing our dependancy on foreign oil.

The changes to other methods of fuel not only satisfies this crowd but reduces the carbon footprint left by each car driver in the United States. The American consumer, as a whole, can sadly not be expected to tell the difference. In the meantime, we will have to watch and see how many companies jump on the environmental bandwagon.

We now come to the conclusion of this article on ¡°A Look at the Trend toward Environmental Responsibility¡±. This includes the new spate of hybrid cars on the road, as well as efforts being made to improve fuel economy in internal combustion engines. It is our responsibility to take care to limit any negative impacts arising from our actions.

With Americans focused more than ever before on the environment, big businesses are looking to attract these like minded people with programs and policies that are considered environmentally friendly.

It remains to be seen how much of our current trend toward green business and individual practices is here for the long haul and how much is merely a passing fad.

Understanding the Carbon Footprint and How It Affects the Environment

The online calculator will do the computing for you so you can see just how extensively your activities affect the environment by contributing to carbon dioxide emissions.

Once you know how your activities affect Mother Earth, you can start taking steps to minimize your contribution to carbon dioxide emissions. We have various energy saving gadgets such as the Smart Adapter which is a remote control plug set which enables you to quickly and easily turn off electric items off standby.
First of all, the term carbon footprint refers to a measurement of greenhouse gases released by human activities based on the amount of carbon dioxide units that is produced. Leave less of a carbon footprint and you will leave behind a more stable environment in the wake of your activities.

Green Store UK sells eco friendly gifts and energy saving gadgets. (A green energy supplier relies on renewable energy sources such as hydroelectric and wind power, which wreaks less havoc on the environment);

•turn off electricity-dependent machines if you really do not need to use them, or at least minimize usage of these items;

•minimize your central heating by up to 2 degrees;

•minimize water heating by up to 2 degrees;

•use a timer for your central heating at home so that it turns off when you leave hom! e;

•only turn on the washing machine and clothes dryer if you have a full load of laundry to put in;

•try reducing water to heat in the kettle if you do not need that much hot water in the first place;

•do not overcharge your cellphone;

•defrost freezers and refrigerators periodically, even before ice builds up;

•try shopping only once a week, making bulk purchases so you can cut down on car fuel consumption;

•and minimize use of the tumble dry function â€ÂÂ" rather try using a clothesline and the sun to dry laundry.

There are many other things you can do to minimize your carbon footprint. This is very important, particularly since African and Asian countries are revving up their economies which means a proportional increase in fuel consumption.

Some things you can do are:

•look for a green en! ergy supplier who will supply power to your household. This h! elps sci entists and government decision makers gauge how severe a particular human activity affects the environment by contributing to the so-called Greenhouse Effect.

You can compute your own primary carbon footprint, by taking into account your fuel consumption in your household and your travel activities per year.

In the first category which is fuel consumption per household, you should factor in the following:

•electricity consumption per year for your household

•natural gas consumption per year for your household

•LPG (liquified petroleum gas) consumption per year by your household

•household oil consumption per year by your household

•coal consumption per year by your household

•and the number of people who live in your household.

For the second category, which involves travel activities per year, you should factor! in these:

•total mileage of your vehicle per year (for those who own their own private vehicle)

•total mileage of your second vehicle per year (for those who have an additional vehicle)

•miles traveled on the train per year

•miles traveled on both local buses and underground transportation systems per year

•miles traveled on long distance bus and coach per year

•yearly travel by air, in terms of short-haul return flights, medium-haul return flights, and long-haul return flights.

You can use an online carbon footprint calculator (like that found on http://www.carbonfootprint.com/calculator.html) and enter in all these factors.

Easily Prevent Global Warming with Recycled Paper

If not entirely composed of recycled materials, these companies at least have a high ratio of recycled to virgin fiber in their products:

Best Value, Marcal, 365 Everyday Value, Colortex, Earth Friendly Products, Fiesta, April Soft, Doucelle, Green Forest, Cascades, Mr. The good news is that many of the changes that can be made are pretty easy; it just involves changing some small details in your daily routine.

Two Basic Paper Recycling Facts

If you want to help prevent global warming, then you should become aware of where your paper comes from. Adding to the fact that you'll help prevent global warming, you will also save money, as value tissues are often less expensive, not because their products have less quality, but because value brands do not spend millions of dollars on advertisements, such as Charmin's 2007 Super Bowl ad.

At present, the US government does not mandate any policy regarding the fiber content of tissue papers. Purchasing toilet paper from the following brands will reduce the amount of logging that is needed to provide fiber for paper products, preventing global warming in the process. There exists a myriad of recycled products, waiting to be discovered by you.
There are literally hundreds of ways in which you can help prevent global warming, the hard part is committing yourself to making the change. Please sign up to help disseminate this information and learn how you can help the cause: http://www.acoolerclimate.com Related global warming article: Help Stop Global Warming By Choosing Eco Travel Options On Your Vacation As David notes, "If every household in the United States replaced just one roll of virgin toilet paper with one recycled post-consumer waste roll, 424,000 trees would still be standing." The problem is that most brand name tissue papers Kleenex, Scott, Angel Soft, Cottonelle, Bounty, Brawny, Puffs, Charmin have zero recycled fibers in their products.[2]

Use Your Buying Power to Stop Prevent Global Warming

This means that it is your duty to make the change and actively seek out products which use recycled material. The way you spend your money can, in the long term, determine whether or not these trees will continue to be felled. Jumbo, Natural Value, Pert, Planet, Seventh Generation Recylced Bathroom Tissue Papericon, Soft'N' Fluffy, Trader Joe's, Ultra Val-U and Velvet.[3]

Once you've successfully upgraded your toilet tissues don't stop there! The preceding article was provided by ACoolerClimate.com, home to many more articles encouraging others to take grassroots efforts to prevent global warming. The world seems bright tomorrow; but it is up to you to do what is necessary now to maintain that for the years ahead.

------

You are encouraged to reprint this article, but please include this resource box. Remember, you as the consumer hold the power to change the way paper products are used.

Everyday brings forth new opportunities. Furthermore, a mandate which would require producers to include recycled or post-consumer materials in their products is unlikely to occur in the near future. Reports Laurie David in Stop Global Warming: The Solution Is You!, many of the everyday tissue paper products we use, like toilet paper, come from 100 to 150 year old virgin forests in Northern Canada.[1] When virgin forests are cut down to supply our paper needs, they can no longer help process the gases which are warming our planet.

Don't despair though! Think about the paper towels in your kitchen, the Kleenex on your table or the toilet paper in your bathroom. The easiest and perhaps most effective way to discourage destructive forestry practices is to make a financial statement by purchasing from companies that strive to use recycled fibers.

What Do You Do to Save Fuel?

Among the steps one can take with the purpose of increasing gas mileage are installing an automotive device or choosing a fuel saver such as a gas additive. A fuel saver will also prolong the life of your engine and will decrease the noise made by your engine. Their benefits go way beyond saving fuel. Among other things, the emissions of your car will be dramatically reduced, it will ensure an accelerated combustion and soon.

The savings one could realize depends first of all on a series of aspects which are not very much related to fuel savers. And since it’s been demonstrated over and over again that these products save fuel indeed, wouldn’t it be a very wise choice to purchase such a fuel saver earlier than resort to it later when the high costs of fuel for your car have already driven you crazy?

The size of your car, the transmission, manual or automatic, the dimensions of your engine, whether you have rear-wheel or front-wheel drive, all of these will play a significant part whether you can save fuel or not. Of course it will make a difference if you drive mostly on the highway and less in the city. But none of the above will improve your gas mileage to such an extent that you will be totally pleased. But chances are you’ll never be satisfied with the results, and you will eventually have to turn to a fuel saver.

The rise of gas prices has brought about some dramatic choices for many people, such as giving up things from their daily existence in order to be able to put some gas in the car every week. Of course there are people you can ask about particular cars which save fuel or you can read about it in magazines or on web sites. The safest solution in order to save fuel is to go for a gas additive as a fuel saver because its effectiveness is guaranteed. Although the amount of savings may vary from one fuel saver to another, these products which save gas have actually proven their effectiveness. The tendency of consumers when the gas prices rise is to look for products that save fuel. It is only natural that under the circumstances people are turning to all sorts of products which save fuel in order to save more than just a few bucks. Last but not least, a fuel saver will make sure that what is usually exhausted as pollution will be totally burned.

The struggle to save fuel has to begin in the very first stages of choosing your car. The type of car you own or your manner of driving will pretty much make a difference when it comes to saving. What consumers should also know is that these products which save fuel, don’t do just that. There are some aspects which you must not overlook when making a choice for a new car because a good choice can translate into money saving whereas a not so fortunate choice will only cost you a lot of money over the years. A smaller engine is said to reduce fuel consumption but that’s not always the case, a small size car is considered to be more efficient as far as saving fuel is concerned, but you may need more than a very small car. What happens then?

Fuel Saver, Save Fuel

Am interested in keeping our environment clean, saving fuel and prolonging engine life

Most people still need to resort to fuel savers and the independent tests performed have shown that gas additives actually save fuel.

What people are mostly interested in when they resort to a fuel saver is , of course, to increase gas mileage significantly.

Another aspect of the rise of gas prices is that it has led to an increase in the number of fuel savers.

Leveraging Technology to Advance the Green Mission

Case in point: Czech Republic's President Vaclav Klaus, an economist, argues that the regulatory ambitions of today's global warming activists are caused by a communist impulse.

Consider desktop sharing systems

Some green advocacy groups have far flung leadership groups, and it is impractical to expect face-to-face meetings. By way of example, throughout this year, the Congress will be debating a carbon cap and trade system designed to reduce carbon emissions in an effort to fight global warming. He cites a number of influential scientists who question the connection between carbon emissions and temperature increases. From free conference call solutions such as Rondee.com that enable easy to deploy teleconferencing to next generation email newsletter platforms, there has never been a more ideal time to use new technologies to help the green cause.

Use web networking tools

The most successful green advocacy groups create networks of supporters who believe in their values and mission. Technology is addressing this problem by way of desktop sharing.

Another cause is the flourishing of free conference calling services. Many of these divergences relate to essentially opposed worldviews about the role of technology. If all conference call participants dial the same toll number and enter the same PIN code, they are put into the conference call.

Indeed, many green groups can benefit from the use of new technologies that enable communication. She consults to the free conference call service which was first launched by Rondee.com.
Ironically though, it is technology itself that holds the hope of empowering the whole green community to secure its aims. Increasingly, the hurdle for quality decision-making is rising and thus reliance on conjecture and theory is being replaced by empirical evidence to justify decisions.|

----------
Originally hailing from Palo Alto, Linda Rogers speaks about communication technologies and other topics of concern to green activists. Leaders can apply the same practices with simple to use Excel or Lotus spread-sheeting applications to ascertain what works and what does not work. While the word networking frequently gets an undesirable connotation, the simple reality is these networks can provide significant aid. Most of these offerings, including those offered by Rondee.com work on the same central idea.
The Green movement often occupies controversial and difficult terrain. These applications also provide a relatively easy method of increase your network.

Use a free conference call service

In the last few years, there has been increasing levels of collaboration between geographically diverse green advocacy groups.

Meanwhile, skeptics are increasingly seeing their arguments heard. One cause of this trend has been lower air travel costs â€ÂÂ" a trend that may now be reversing with leaping oil prices. They offer you a personal access number and a toll number to dial. Or, more precisely, he cites research indicating that the causality runs the opposite direction in that escalating temperatures lead to greater carbon capture in the atmosphere.

Against this backdrop, it is no wonder that the green community encompasses such divergent beliefs over strategy. Whether it's viewing a PowerPoint presentation displaying the group's fundraising initiatives or a spreadsheet showing the tracking of volunteer participation desktop sharing can be very useful for not a few green groups.

Use data based decision-making practices

One of the most significant trends in the last several years affecting nonprofits in the green community has been the escalating reliance on evidence based decision-making. Today in the Bay Area, the expectation is that professional folks will have at least a rudimentary profile page on Linked In.

At the same time, other networking systems such as Facebook are starting to see adoption by more professional users.

Profiles in Green City Programs: Austin Texas

In 2001, there were about a dozen homes in the Austin area that were built from straw, including at least three inside the city limits. The collective took an old warehouse with an asphalt parking lot and have turned it into gardens, ponds and greenhouses that support tilapia, catfish, turkey, ducks and chickens. Criteria for its choices included air quality, electricity use and production, environmental perspective, environmental policy, green space, transportation and water quality.

A commitment to solar energy and green building is what won Austin its place on Green Guide's list. It also helps reduce the amount of air pollution in the city by reducing the amount of automobile traffic in the city.

Finally, there is Good Common Sense, an online store founded by well-known and highly respected Austin musician Chris Searles. In this way, members can save money by not having to pay for their own private car (and consequently not having to pay for insurance, gas, maintenance and parking!).
Several cities across the US are noted for their progressive city governments and citizenry in regards to environmental issues. It also buys significant amounts of wind energy from wind farms in West Texas and plans to meet 20 percent of its energy needs with renewable sources by 2020.

But it's not just the city government that promotes green urban living. Many of Austin's creative citizens are becoming known around the country and the world for their initiative and success in creating local, community based projects that promote green lifestyles and a more healthy, cleaner urban environment.

The Rhizome Collective was founded in 2000 as a center for community organizing and urban sustainability education. This company allows members to pick up a car for a day at various locations around town. Consumers can find home weatherizing products, compostable dinnerware, fuel enhancer devices, and all kinds of recycled products.

Escapeso Realty helps clients looking for green and environmentally friendly homes in the Austin real estate market. The Green Guide, affiliated with National Geographic, chose Austin as number 2 on its list on Top Green Cities in 2006. Formerly a drummer for such notable artists as Alejandro Escovedo and Shawn Colvin, Searles founded Good Common Sense in an effort to help consumers make the kinds of choices that will help make the world a greener, safer place to live and work. Potential buyers can use their site to search the Austin MLS along with using their free mortgage calculator. They host weekend workshops and seminars to teach people from around the world that they don't hav! e to wait on governments and corporations to go green, but they can start implementing their own projects with little background in engineering or the sciences.

Austin has permitted a number of private individuals to employ alternative construction methods to build homes inside the city limits, notably straw bale construction. The city offers some of the most generous rebates in the country for customers who use solar energy. His store offers products that are environmentally friendlier than many products consumers might find in regular stores and shops. In addition to such progressive construction methods, the city has also permitted some people to recycle old buildings, such as warehouses into condos and upscale or innovative commercial properties.

Another citizen-initiated project that has contributed to the eco-quality of the area is the Carshare initiative. Austin also has established high standards for energy efficiency for its central business district and has initiated progressive policies to preserve water quality, ensure proximity to mass transit, and maintain a pedestrian-friendly urban design. Known as "green cities", they not only initiate and practice policies that promote clean air and water, but often promote other programs and practices such as alternative energy systems and construction methods.

Austin, Texas consistently places in the various lists of the greenest cities in the US and the world.

Cell Phone Recycling - Reasons Why We Absolutely Must

You can give it to a friend or a younger sister, and you're sure that cell phone will have a year or two more of use before getting permanently retired. from these. Selling your old or used cell phones to companies like Pacebutler Corporation is a fast and convenient option. Cadmium exposure can lead to "liver and irreversible kidney problems (often fatal), respiratory and bone density problems. The turn-around time is very fast for these online transactions, too. If you live near a zoo, chances are you've seen cell phone collection boxes near the zoo entrance. Anne Marie Helmenstine, author and leading authority in biomedical sciences, lead has been found to cause development problems in children and diminishes brain functions even in adults. Did you know that there's more gold found in one metric ton of cell phone and other electronic waste than 17 tons of gold ore excavated and refined through the traditional mining process? The likelihood of these dangerous and d! eadly chemicals seeping into our water systems is just too high. Dangerous chemicals like brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are also found in the plastic casing of most cell phones. The refurbishing company then turns around, and refurbishes these cell phones to be marketed to wholesale buyers abroad, bringing communication capability to people from developing countries in South America and other areas.

On a much larger scale, recycling companies like Umicore in Belgium, who process unserviceable cell phones and e-waste, are able to extract such precious metals and other materials from cell phones like gold, silver, platinum, copper, coltan, plastic and glass, etc. In a few months or years, you'll rediscover these hidden phones and having no further use to you, these old units will most likely end up in your garbage bin and thence, in your city's landfill.

But there's a better, more environmentally-responsible, even more profitable way to dispose of your old cell phones. The giant recycling firms make money by processing tons and tons of cell phones and other electronic waste.

How do you recycle cell phones?

Give your old or used cell phones to friends or family. It's a win-win solution, too. Most of the cell phones we hide or throw away in exchange for a newer model or after we switched to a different provider are still perfectly usable. The companies win by having access to a steady stream of recycled materials for manufacturing of new items. The leading US manufacturers and service providers like AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint all have cell phone take-back programs, complete with free shipping and/or discounts in subsequent purchases. Compounds containing cadmium are also carcinogenic."

Most of our landfills today are scientifically designed to contain chemicals leaking from the solid waste, but will you gamble the health of your children and your's on the chance that cell phones and other electronic wastes we so carelessly throw to our landfills will not leach chemicals into our underground water systems? If you're like most people, you probably have an old cell phone or two hidden in a drawer somewhere. All you need to do is access the company's website, check for the actual buying prices of your cell phones' model, and request for a shipping label. The fact is, by raising funds for a worthy cause by collecting and reselling old cell phones, you are putting to good use something that would have been useless, even harmful if disposed improperly.

Recycle cell phones through recycling and refurbishing companies. Find out how to recycle cell phones in the fastest and most convenient way online with Pacebutler Corporation, today. There is still so much room for growth in our cell phone recycling efforts, as we've seen in the numbers above. These companies will ensure that the cell phones are recycled or refurbished in a responsible and environmentally-sound process. In actual numbers, that's 10 million cell phones rotting away in our country's landfills and 37 million cell phones gathering dust in the drawers of America - and that's from 2007 alone!

Why should you recycle your cell phones?

Like other electronic wastes, cell phones in their circuit boards and batteries, contain such harmful heavy metals like lead, mercury, and cadmium. You can make money by selling your used or old cell phones to recycling and refurbishing companies like Pacebutler Corporation in Edmond, OK who will pay as much as $50 for each cell phone you turn in and will even pay for the shipping of packages containing at least 4 cell phones. You can read more cell phone recycling articles by Michael at the Pacebutler Recycling Blog. Cell phone recycling is the answer.

There may be around 700 million used or old cell phones in America today, with approximately 125 million discarded cell phones added every year. As the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says, "it's an easy call to make."

Michael Arms, the author of this article, contributes articles to the Pacebutler Recycling Blog and owns several Squidoo lenses dealing with recycling and environmental issues. You win by making sure the your old phones are recycled responsibly and by getting the discounts from your purchases.

Recycle your cell phones through your favorite charity. But then again, if you go by this route, you're merely extending the life cycle of your old phones. According to Dr. The good news is, after the entire recycling process is over, less than half of 1% of the entire electronic waste processed, is deemed unfit to be returned to the production cycle and is then just burned for energy generation.

The precious metals present in each cell phone are basically just trace amounts, so it's impractical and patently dangerous (because of the industrial chemicals necessary) for you to try and extract these minerals from your cell phone at home. According to a study done by a market intelligence firm iSuppli Corporation in 2007, 36.8 percent stored their cell phones in their drawers, 10.2 percent threw their cell phones away or declared these as lost or stolen, and only 9.4 percent recycled their used or old cell phones. Many charitable and non-profit organizations today are able to raise funds for their respective charities and projects by collecting used and old cell phones, and then selling them to recyclers and refurbishers. People, even kids, are doing it.
Recycle cell phones? Perhaps the most practical and easiest way to recycle cell phones is by extending the life cycle of old phones by giving these away to a friend or a family member. You can actually process everything online in a few minutes. Once you have the pre-paid labels, you can box and send your old cell phones to the company. Generally, the company sends you your check within 4 business days after receiving your cell phones.

To summarize, we have outlined here the paramount importance of recycling your old or used cell phones, in the light of potential impact on the environment and people's health. If you want to start such a project in your own city or neighborhood, you can network with other non-profit organizations and even ask for material support from the recycling companies. But things are looking up, as more and more people become aware of the importance and the absolute necessity to recycle cell phones, we should be able to move forward in increasing the cell phone recycling rate nationwide. You can put in a word for the environment by asking the person you're giving your phone to, to recycle it properly when the time comes.

Recycle cell phones through the manufacturer or service provider. As a matter of fact, cell phone recycling can be quite lucrative. By dumping cell phones and other electronic wastes in our landfills, we are practically poisoning ourselves.

Is there money in cell phone recycling?

Yes. It may seem like a joke, but it was in the news last month - a man who fancied himself as an "urban miner" got poisoned by the industrial chemicals he was using, while "mining" cell phones. Did you know that you can actually return your old cell phones to the manufacturer?

Recycle your cell phones today. Absolutely!

Did you know that you can actually recycle your old or used cell phones?

Space Technology in Modern World

While the word networking often gets a less than ideal reputation, the simple reality is these networks can provide significant aid. One underlying reason for this trend has been reduced flight travel costs â€ÂÂ" a trend that may now be going the opposite direction with leaping oil prices.

At the same time, other networking applications such as Facebook are starting to experience usage by more professional users. Such services also offer a relatively easy method of developing your network.

Use a free teleconference system

In the last few years, there has been increasing levels of collaboration between geographically diverse green advocacy groups.

Indeed, most if not all green groups can benefit from the use of new technologies that empower networking. This has now changed. Whether it's showing a PowerPoint presentation displaying the group's fundraising initiatives or a spreadsheet showing the tracking of volunteer participation desktop sharing can be quite useful for not a few green groups.

Use data driven decision-making

One of the most significant trends recently affecting nonprofit organizations in the green community has been the escalating reliance on evidence based decision-making. For instance, throughout this year, the Congress will be debating a carbon trading regulatory scheme designed to cut carbon emissions in an effort to address global warming. Technology is addressing this problem by way of desktop sharing. Many of these divergences relate to fundamentally opposed worldviews about the role of technology. From free conference call systems such as Rondee.com that enable easy to deploy teleconferencing to next generation email newsletter applications, there has never been a more ideal time to leverage new technologies to further the green cause.

Against this backdrop, it is no small wonder that the green community encompasses such conflicting views over tactics. These services cut the work load by at least 80% and in so doing enable green groups to focus on content development as opposed to content delivery.

Investigate desktop sharing technologies

Some green advocacy groups have far flung leadership teams, and it is impractical to have face-to-face meetings. He cites an array influential scientists who critique the connection between carbon emissions and temperature increases. Ironically though, it is technology itself that holds the promise of empowering the entire green community to secure its aims. On-line systems such as Jangomail, Mynewsletterbuilding, and Enewsletterpro are making it possible to create templated and scalable newsletters.

Use an automated electronic newsletter platform

It wasn't too long in the past that sending out an email newsletter was time consuming and difficult.
The Green movement often occupies controversial and difficult terrain. Increasingly, the hurdle for excellence in decision-making is rising and reliance on conjecture and theory is being replaced by empirical data to support decisions.

Mold Removal

Much like bacteria, mold digests organic material. We have the know-how to safely remove mold and dry out your home.

Many different types of mold exist with well over one hundred species. Even the building or furnishing may contribute toxic substances when wet. It digests these materials. A moist one. Mytotoxins are metabolic byproducts produced by certain molds under certain conditions. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll have a mold monster on your hands. Left to grow out of control, mold can leave unsightly stains and damage the structure of your home.

Many people experience unpleasant health effects when exposed to mold ranging from mild allergies and asthma attacks to irritated eyes, throats, noses, skin, and lungs. In fact, mold is everywhere!

If your home is damp and has mold, it also could harbor other contaminates that thrive in moist environments such as rodents, bacteria, roaches, and dust mites. Some may even be carcinogenic.

As you can see, mold loves a moist environment (and it doesn’t take much water for mold to thrive) and can cause serious health and structural problems. All that accomplishes is bleaching; the mold isn’t necessarily killed. Mold can also rot wood. If your home has mold, it’s critical to remove it.
Mold Removal

Even the most spotless of homes can have mold. Mold in your home actually digests whatever it lands on! Like plants, mold reproduces by releasing “seeds” which are carried off through the air. Simply fill out a brief form describing your problem and a local representative will call back.

Mold spores are microscopic and can be carried quite far. What’s the perfect environment? All molds secrete enzymes as part of their digestive systems. Other concerns involve the potentially toxic substances that some molds produce. These byproducts are toxic and cause all kinds of ill effects including diarrhea, headaches, sore throats, fatigue, and dermatitis. Let us help. You can’t simply spray bleach on mold and be done with it. For example, mold, which is a type of fungus, breaks down dead leaves and other organic material.

As a member of the fungus family, mold doesn’t fit into either animal or plant categories. A little bit of mold isn’t a major problem so long as you take care of it. Common mold species include Aspergillus, Stachybotrys, Cladosporium, Fusarium, and Penicillium. Plus, dead mold still causes allergic reactions and other unpleasant side effects.

Feeling overwhelmed? In this case, the “seeds” are called spores. you live, we can help! This can damage your furniture, wallpaper, carpets, and drywall. People with asthma, allergies, and suppressed immune systems can also suffer other effects including contracting other opportunistic infections. No matter where in the U.S. In addition, mold exposure can cause hypersensitivity pneumonitis, headaches, breathing difficulties, and other infections. Spores require moisture in order to grow. However, if your house provides the perfect environment for these spores to grow, you can bet your money that you’ll soon have an issue. These enzymes break down the compounds for consumption by the mold. Bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and areas where leakage has occurred are nice and moist.

So what’s wrong with a little bit of mold growth? Obviously, it’s best to catch the problem early but it’s entirely possible to clean even the nastiest mold infestations.

Because inhaling mold is detrimental to your health, cleaning it up requires taking proper precautions and using the right techniques for removal. It doesn’t take much air flow to transport microscopic spores.

These spores are everywhere, both inside and out. Byproducts of digestion are often released. It occurs naturally both indoors and outdoors and actually plays a vital role in the environment. Mold that’s allowed to continue growing poses several concerns including damage to structures and health effects.

Remember how mold breaks down organic material?

Fuel Saver All in one

Among several other benefits one of the benefits would be to that the emissions of your vehicle will get reduced dramatically and it will ensure an accelerated combustion soon. One may think to drive their vehicle only on highway and less in the city.

Due to the rise in prices of fuels like petrol and diesel many people are forced to give up things from their daily existence so that they are able to put some fuel in their car every week. No doubt there are people all around whom you can ask about particular vehicles which save fuel or you can read company magazines and also can clear your doubts from websites. Most of the people still need to resort to fuel savers and the independent tests performed by various experts has shown that gas additives such as All in One actually save fuel.

When people resort to a fuel saver what actually they are interested in is to increase gas mileage dramatically. While buying your new vehicle there are certain things which you must not overlook because a good decision can really help you to save lot of money whereas a not so fortunate choice will only cost you a lot of money over the years. To overcome such circumstances many of them are moving to all sorts of products which can help them to save fuel in order to save more than just a few bucks. So fuel savers are real ways to save fuel when filled in the tank of your vehicle and reducing environment pollution rapidly.

You must start struggling to save fuel even while buying your new vehicle. But more or less it is certain that you will not be satisfied with the results and ultimately you have to go for a fuel saver.

Am interested in keeping our environment clean, saving fuel and prolonging engine life

Rise in the prices of fuel has also led an increase in the number of fuel savers in the market. Last but not least, a fuel saver will make sure that what is usually exhausted as pollution will be totally burned and used and thus saving fuel to a great extent. The type of car you are driving or your driving method will certainly make a difference when it comes to fuel savings. As a result fuel savers such as gas additive are getting more and more popular in order to increase the gas mileage of motor vehicles. A fuel saver may really help to also extend the life of your engine and will reduce the noise made by your engine. But none of the above methods can improve the gas mileage to such an extent that it may totally please you. If you are interested to know more about such a gas additive fuel saver which is very popular in saving fuel you can visit www.ecosavesfuel.com. And since its proved and demonstrated already that these products save fuel indeed, will it n! ot be wise to purchase such a fuel saver earlier than resort to it later when the high costs of fuel for your car have already driven you crazy?

To end up the discussion its now clear that the safest solution in order to save fuel is to go for a gas additive as a fuel saver because its effectiveness is guaranteed. Its a natural tendency of people to look for some good and quality products which can really save fuel. The consumers must also be aware of the fact that these products which save fuel are not just restricted to save fuel only but their benefits go way beyond. Though the amount of savings which can be done depends on the kind of different fuel savers but its a fact that these fuel saver products have proven their effectiveness.

Before choosing any fuel saver one could realize that savings may depend on a series of other aspects which are not very much related to fuel savers.

Reusable, Eco-Friendly Bags - Alternative To A Safer Environment

Mass movements are taking place all over the world in order to reduce the consumption of these plastic and paper bags due to their ill-effects on the environment. When these bags are distributed, the costs are generally passed on to the consumers in the form of higher prices for the goods that they purchase. They break down into tiny bits and contaminate soil and water.

So we see that in-spite of the plastic beings 'free' of cost, there's actually a major cost that needs to be paid indirectly and it threatens the mere existence of all living forms on the face of the earth. They are not affected by chemicals or solvents and comply with FDA regulations. The reusable, eco-friendly bags proves to be a perfect alternative to the toxic plastic or paper bags and should be adopted for a better, healthier and safer environment. They are simple to produce, strong and can be made of different weight or thickness depending on the intended use.
Plastic, paper and cotton bags are probably the easiest and cheapest options when it comes to containing and transporting foods, powders, ice, chemicals and even wastes. Moreover, the process to acquire these resources immensely contributes to the destruction of the fragile habitats and ecosystems around the world. So, though the concept of these bags might seem to be free, in fact they also have some financial issues involved which ultimately are borne by the end-users.

The disposal and littering of these bags also threatens the environment and the future of mankind and all living forms.

This article is written by Ronn Jones, a marketing expert with years of experience in branding and internet marketing. The production of plastic bags also requires a lot of toxic substances to be used. Sea turtles, whales and other such marine mammals often mistakes these plastics for food and end up dead. These bags are generally made of Polypropylene. Bags made of this durable material are water repellent and avoids bacteria and odor. Same is the fate of several cows, goats and other such lad animals that often end up eating pieces of plastic while foraging for food. Billions of single-use plastic bags are distributed free of cost every day. These toxic substances in turn produce pollution and harm the environment. These production materials are non-renewable resources and there's always a risk that unnecessary use of these resources might lead to scarcity. retailers alone incur an annual cost of approximately four billion U.S. Moreover, it takes almost thousands! of years for these pieces of plastic to completely degrade on land. Thousands of marine lives are put into danger due to this. These plastic bags are often disposed off into water or littered on land. These free single-use bags might seem to be of great advantage apparently, but as the old adage goes, nothing in this world comes for free. This contributes effectively towards global warming.

These bags might be distributed for free to the consumers but definitely does not come free to the retailers. When swallowed these plastics choke them or block their intestine resulting in a painful death. The U.S. We pay heavily for using each of these bags with our environment and future.

If we take into account the "cradle to grave" multiple impacts and the effects of each phase of these bags' life we will be able to illustrate the actual costs paid by our environment and society for the fleeting convenience of unlimited, free, single-use plastic bags.

Firstly, the production of these plastic bags requires a large amount of petroleum and natural gas. Check out more information on reusable, eco-friendly bags. Luckily, though, we have seen the introduction of reusable, eco-friendly and environment safe bags on the market to substitute them. Energy consumption required for the production of these bags is also huge. dollars.

Using Technology to Aid the Green Goal

Technology is addressing this problem by way of desktop sharing. He cites an array influential scientists who critique the connection between carbon emissions and temperature increases. Or, more precisely, he points to research suggesting that the causality runs the opposite direction in that escalating temperatures cause higher carbon capture in the atmosphere.

Against this backdrop, it is no small wonder that the green community encompasses such conflicting views over tactics. Case in point: Czech Republic's President Vaclav Klaus, an economist, contends that the regulatory ambitions of today's global warming activists are caused by a communist impulse. Increasingly, the hurdle for excellence in decision-making is rising and reliance on conjecture and theory is being replaced by empirical data to support decisions.

----------
A California resident, Bob Letterman discusses communications technology and other issues of concern to the green community. They offer you a PIN and a toll number to call. Today in the San Francisco Bay Area, the expectation is that professional people will have at least a minimal profile page on Linked In.

At the same time, other networking applications such as Facebook are starting to experience usage by more professional users. Ironically though, it is technology itself that holds the promise of empowering the entire green community to secure its aims.

Meanwhile, skeptics are increasingly having their voices heard. For instance, throughout this year, the Congress will be debating a carbon trading regulatory scheme designed to cut carbon emissions in an effort to address global warming. Such services also offer a relatively easy method of developing your network.

Use a free teleconference system

In the last few years, there has been increasing levels of collaboration between geographically diverse green advocacy groups. From free conference call systems such as Rondee.com that enable easy to deploy teleconferencing to next generation email newsletter applications, there has never been a more ideal time to leverage new technologies to further the green cause.

Utilize web networking tools

The most successful green advocacy groups create networks of supporters who believe in their philosophy and goals. Most of these systems, including those offered by Rondee.com work on the same underlying idea.

Another driver is the advent of free conference calling services. These services cut the work load by at least 80% and in so doing enable green groups to focus on content development as opposed to content delivery.

Investigate desktop sharing technologies

Some green advocacy groups have far flung leadership teams, and it is impractical to have face-to-face meetings. One underlying reason for this trend has been reduced flight travel costs â€ÂÂ" a trend that may now be going the opposite direction with leaping oil prices. On-line systems such as Jangomail, Mynewsletterbuilding, and Enewsletterpro are making it possible to create templated and scalable newsletters.

Indeed, most if not all green groups can benefit from the use of new technologies that empower networking. This has now changed.
The Green movement often occupies controversial and difficult terrain. He consults to the free conference call service that was initially developed by the Rondee.com team.
Many of these divergences relate to fundamentally opposed worldviews about the role of technology. If all teleconference users dial the same toll number and enter the same code, they are placed into the conference call. Practitioners can apply the same techniques with simple to use Excel or Lotus spread-sheeting applications to ascertain what works and what does not work. While the word networking often gets a less than ideal reputation, the simple reality is these networks can provide significant aid.

Use an automated electronic newsletter platform

It wasn't too long in the past that sending out an email newsletter was time consuming and difficult.

Farm Tractor Store A Gardeners Paradise

Everyone thinks that they are an expert but what may be ideal for your neighbor may not necessarily be ideal for your specific requirements. This is where automation can be a real benefit if you don't want to spend all and every summer weekend sorting out your backyard and trying to get that old mower running. A good farm tractor store or mower dealer will probably want to come and take a good look at your lawn before making any recommendations at all so don't go diving in before you take some expert advice.

A small garden tractor will have many more uses than just pulling the mower over your lawn too because a good one will come with many attachments to pull or drive other small agricultural appliances too. Compared with the cost of a large mower a ride on or tractor mower could represent a huge overall saving in both money and more importantly your valuable time. These little machines may not be fast but don't let that fool you they are very powerful indeed and should therefore be treated with the utmost respect especially in regard to the manufacturers usage instructions.

Kevin Moore writes articles for several article directories and publishes web sites on a huge variety of subjects so if you want to know more check out the site at Farm Tractor Store

These guys know mowers and lawns inside out so they will be able to advise you as to what best suits your needs but more importantly your budget too. Of course the best place to get an idea on cost and what's best for you is the farm tractor store or a ride on mower specialist company.
If you have a large backyard with a huge lawn and you are sick of pushing that old mower across it week after week it maybe time for a visit to a farm tractor store near you. Warranty or guarantee should come as standard but it will however be limited to a far shorter time period than any comparable new machinery that does the same job. There is a strong argument that the price savings on secondhand verses new garden tractors or mowers is not all that realistic when offset against the shorter warranty and lower initial value. There are far better things to do in the garden like having a barbecue with your friends and family or just relaxing on a warm summers afternoon whilst you recharge your batteries after a long week at work. All machinery has the potential to be dangerous and at times lethal in the wrong hands so don't allow children to treat them as toys or use them whilst unsupervised either. In fact most reputable farm tractor and mower stores will offer a fre! e demonstration if you ask them for one. Everything from small garden trailers to rotavators can be hooked up to these sophisticated little workhorses so choose with care if you are wanting to get the maximum use out of yours. With proper instruction and safe usage anyone with a modicum of common sense should be able to tackle even the biggest of lawns out there with no problems at all.

Buying a used or secondhand mini tractor is another option but one you should consider very carefully before deciding upon. You don't need to be a brain surgeon to operate a modern ride on mower but it's always a good idea to obtain some instruction from the guy at the store before you jump on and ride off into the sunset. Many of the more reputable farm tractor store and mower shops will often stock a good selection of secondhand equipment of all kinds. Whatever you decide take your time when choosing and be sure to visit a farm tractor store or two before making a final decision. With the busy lives we lead today time is probably one of the most precious commodities we have so you won't want to spend all your spare hours in the garden. Then again needs drive as the devil must and for some folks the price of that new tractor or appliance is just a little more than their budget will run to for that first ride on machine. If you thought that a ride on mower was beyond y! our means perhaps it's worth taking another look before you go back to all that back breaking hard work and trudging across the lawn. So if you get your garden equipment choices right the first time around you really could save all that time for the things you want to do instead.

If you can't find a good farm tractor store or mower shop near you there are plenty online and many of them will be more than happy to offer some free advice especially if they think there could be a sale at the end of the day. These garden appliances will have been totally reconditioned in their own workshops and this will of course be reflected in the price.

Is It Bad to Feed Wild Birds?

Some bird populations may not migrate to areas of higher food availability if there is a reliable source near their summer habitats. In your short-term (1-4 days) absence from home, a good practice is to completely stock your feeder and also place some on the earth and around vegetation in the general area of your feeding stations. But, they also demonstrated a significant correlation between an individual bird's ability to survive the winter and the use of bird feeders.

It was found that birds that use feeders had a month to month survival rate of 95% compared to 87% of wild birds that did not use wild bird feeders. For really great public information about bird feeding, go to http://www.americanbirding.org/

Also, if you plan to go on vacation or holiday, plan for your absence. Mike is a wild bird enthusiast and owner/operator of the online wild bird supplies superstore The Bird Warehouse. But, the bottom line is that birds will adapt. Some think that once birds rely on your feed, they will not be capable of gaining their own food, especially during hard times such as winter.

Some feel that birds will rely on the food provided by you and that they will lose their ability to find their own food. You will also notice that in the spring, when food abounds, the birds are not as active at the feeders as they are in the winter when food is harder to find.

We can only suspect that different birds, like people, have different levels of dependence. Curiously, even though our food supply will decrease the winter death rate, our avian friends will not completely rely on us. If you are going to be gone for an extended time, ask your friends, neighbors, or relatives to check and fill your feeders on a consistent basis.

As for winter feeding, it is more serious.
Is there evidence that feeding birds in your backyard will lead to bird death? If one fails to continue a consistent feeding program, the birds will adapt and search for food.

I recommend that if you start a bird feeding program, stay consistent. In simple terms, it means that without our help, a higher number of birds fail to survive the winter. It is best if you fill the feeders at the same time every day or whatever interval you need and ensure that the feeders do not stay empty for extended periods. Other experts think that our feathered friends are much more resilient and will discover new sources of food if the feeder repeatedly is empty and they can't support themselves or their young.

As reported in Bird Watcher's Digest, researchers Margaret Brittingham and Stanley Temple found that black-capped chickadees take, on average, only 20-25% of their winter food requirements from feeders. If your bird feeders are consistently empty, these amazing animals will almost always take flight to find another source of food on their own. Thus, if you feed birds on a consistent basis over the spring and summer, it is important that you are extremely consistent in the winter, when some species may rely on your food to survive.

To make a long story short, it is better for survival rates if you feed wild birds in your yard. But if you decide to feed them, it is ideal if you are consistent in your feeding.

------

Mike Kershaw has a graduate degree in biological sciences and is an expert in attracting and retaining wild birds to your backyard. If we help, more birds will survive. For winter (as opposed to month-to-month), 69% of the feeder using birds survived the winter where only 37% of wild non-feeder using birds survived the winter.

If more wild birds survive the winter when we feed them, what are the implications?

How does a tankless water heater save money and the environment?

Not when you consider the fact that the amount of energy wasted in North America each year to simply keep a tank of hot water permanently on standby and ready for our use (even while we sleep)is enough energy to power a small third world nation. Secondly, as tankless heaters are typically smaller units than traditional hot water tanks, they require less metal and help reduce the global demand for mining and metal consumption. Why are we spending our hard-earned dollars to consume fossil fuels in our sleep to heat a tank of hot water that we will never use?

Tankless water heaters only consume energy when you use hot water and instantly heat your water when you turn on the tap. Thirdly, tankless heaters last 2 - 3 times longer than traditional hot water tanks and will further reduce the demand for metal inputs and lower landfill waste levels.

SPACE SAVING
As an added bonus you will gain storage space in your house due to the simple fact that tankless water heaters are much smaller in size that traditional hot water heaters and can be installed more conveniently in a wide range of locations.

There is a lot to be gained by switching from tank to tankless water heaters, and demand is growing.
Imagine having and endless supply of hot showers while at the same time saving money and helping the environment. If you act soon, you can still get in on the rebate and get the government to pay you to switch!

[ -- ARTICLE USE POLICY -- You are permitted to freely copy and use this article on your website, RSS, or e-zine ONLY IF the article text is not changed or altered in any way and the hyperlinks inside the article are active and working. Let's review some of their benefits:

REDUCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION
A tankless water heater only consumes energy when you are using hot water. It instantly heats the hot water supply to the required temperature "on demand" and does not waste energy maintaining a large tank of hot water 24 hours a day.

ENDLESS HOT WATER SUPPLY
No more cold showers! Tankless water heater technology has been a proven solution for over 25 years in Europe and Japan and is just now exploding in demand across North America as homeowners wake up to the benefits of tankless hot water heaters. The average homeowner will usually see savings of 15% - 25%, while households that have smaller hot water demands may see savings of up to 48%.

GET PAID TO SWITCH
Under the Energy Tax Incentives Act you can qualify for a $300 Federal rebate by switching your hot water tank to a tankless water heater unit. Smith is a freelance writer, contributor, and editor of the Tankless Water Heater Solutions information portal which reports on the latest hot water heater energy news in the water heating industry.

S.A. The amount you save will vary from household to household and will depend on your water usage patterns and climate. Going tankless will reduce the amount of fossil fuels you consume to heat your household water. Act now before these incentives expire!

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLIER
Switching to a tankless water heater will help the environment in 3 ways. As long as you've selected the correct flow rate model for your home you no longer need to worry about running out of hot water in the shower - even if your teenagers are showering in the other bathroom while your dishwasher and washing machine are on.

One LED Light Bulb, One Environmentally Friendly Step

You can find LED light fixtures for your home, indoor and out, that will provide low energy, environmentally-friendly lighting that can save you money on your energy bill. By simply switching, our environment could easily revitalize itself without having to deal with the excess carbon dioxide, sulfur oxide and nuclear waste emissions that are currently being released into the atmosphere every day. Just one home lighting fixture, one light bulb can be a positive step forward for your household. One small change we all can make is to switch our home and outdoor light fixtures to LED light options.
LED lights are a wonderful invention that has changed the way the world is lit. LED lights also use between 50 and 80 percent less energy than an incandescent bulb.

LED lights are considerably less expensive to operate, however are a little more expensive to purchase. Now, consider that by changing them all to LED lighting for your home, you could leave them and not have to replace them for 20 months. LED home lighting requires only one third of the energy that an incandescent bulb will use. They last for considerably longer than other lanterns because they use 10 times less energy to run than standard incandescent bulbs and even less energy than a kerosene lantern.

For LED home lighting, there are many options available other than just bulbs. By making small adjustments to the way we live, we can begin to make an impact on our world. A single 18-watt LED light can replace a 75-watt incandescent and in the lifetime of the LED light, will save 570 kWh! of energy. The slightly higher upfront costs of LED lights make sense. LED lights are four times more efficient than a regular incandescent light bulb and last 10 times as long. There are also LED lanterns that you can choose from that are ideal for camping or hunting.

LED lighting is finding its way into many niche markets. Even changing one lonely bulb in every home to LED home lighting would make a significant impact on the environment. The switch is as difficult as changing one light bulb in your home, the results of which would save you money on your electricity bill each month.

If every home in the United States were to switch to LED home lighting, 90 power plants could be retired, a potentially powerful impact to the long-term health of the environment. Say, for example that you change a bulb every two months.

Learn more about the benefits of camping with an LED lantern or flashlight
on our quality discount LED flashlight and survival knife website. At a basic eight cents per kilowatt rate, that equals $45 dollars in energy bill savings.

By switching to low energy LED home lighting in your home, even one bulb will keep one half of a ton of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere through the lifetime of the bulb instead of using incandescent bulbs. Being energy efficient and environmentally conscious doesn’t have to disrupt your entire life.

We all are challenged to do our part to conserve energy. Take a look around your home and count how many bulbs you use and consider how often you change them.

~Ben Anton, 2007

Ben Anton lives in Portland, OR and writes for Discount Lights and Knives. The benefits can become apparent very quickly as we begin to see our energy bill costs reduce over a period of a few months. Not only are they long lasting, they have many environmental benefits. Switching also keeps sulfur oxide and nuclear waste out of the atmosphere as well, leading to a cleaner world and one that will last much longer. There are a large number of options for LED home lighting and LED camping and hunting outdoor equipment available on the market, all of which provide the energy efficiency benefits inherent in LED products. You can get a LED flashlight that also uses less battery energy, ensuring that the next time the power goes out in your home, you can be confident that your batteries will last.

23 Facts You Maybe Don't care About Tornadoes

Tornadoes are measured and rated using the Fujita scale.

Tornado Fact 3. This is despite well known TV footage of a news crew sheltering under a bridge. Bill Keller from Kansas survived such a vortex in June 1928: "A screaming, hissing sound came directly from the end of the funnel, and when I looked up I saw right into the very heart of the tornado...it was brilliantly lit with constant flashes of lightning...around the rim of the vortex, small tornadoes were constantly breaking away and writhing their way around the funnel"

Tornado Fact 13. The most northerly tornado ever observed was on August 26th, 1976 at Kiana, Alaska, 54 miles north of Anchorage.

Tornado Fact 18. Those over the US tend to be the most violent as the North American continent has a combination of warm, moist Gulf air from the south colliding with cold air travelling down from the north west, producing ideal tornado forming conditions. Well this is advice, more than fact.
Tornado Fact 1. The average life-span of a tornado is approximately 15 minutes. In the town of Natchez, Mississippi, in 1840 a tornado one mile wide touched down killing 48 people on land and drowning a further 269 in river boats and steam ships on the Mississippi river.

Tornado Fact 15. Only 2% of tornadoes are classed as violent (F4 and F5), but these account for 70% of all tornado deaths.

Tornado Fact 21. The US endures around 750 tornadoes annually.

Tornado Fact 11. Although they can and do travel in any direction, the majority of tornadoes travel from south-west to north-east.

Tornado Fact 10. Few people survive seeing the inside of a tornado vortex. On some days up to 20 tornadoes may be spotted in Tornado Alley- the flat country of the mid-west stretching from Texas through to Oklahoma and Kansas.

Tornado Fact 6. During its 3½ hour life this tornado killed 695 people along its 219 mile path.

Tornado Fact 2. A 'super Outbreak' of tornadoes during 3rd and 4th April 1974 saw 148 individual tornadoes cross and devastate and area from Alabama to Michigan.

Tornado Fact 9. Generally the confined space will increase the overall wind speed. Tornadoes are transparent, and appear so in the early stages of development, until dust and debris are picked up and give them colour.

Tornado Fact 20.

Tornado Fact 5. Tornadoes can occur at any time of the year, although there tends to be a peak in the US in Tornado Alley during May and June.

Tornado Fact 12. However they are generally less violent, and will not move systematically northeastwards like a tornado would.

Tornado Fact 16. A wind speed of 280mph was ascribed to a tornado that hit Texas in April 1958

Tornado Fact 7. 70% of all tornadoes are weak (F0 and F1), and account for less than 5% of all tornado deaths.

Tornado Fact 22. If you are caught out in the open by a tornado with no nearby buildings to shelter in, lie in a ditch, or lowest possible area, and protect your head and neck with your arms. 50% of all fatalities from tornadoes occur amongst residents of mobile homes.

Tornado Fact 23. A bridge is not a good place to shelter from a tornado! The inside of the funnel contains extremely low pressure equal to the pressure difference between ground level and an altitude of 4,900 feet - giving huge suction power

Tornado Fact 14. However some can last much longer " on 26th May 1917 the Mattoon-Charleston Tornado lasted seven and a half hours and travelled 293 miles.

Tornado Fact 8. A waterspout is a tornado that occurs over water rather than land. Hurricane Beulah spawned 115 tornadoes over Texas in September 1967.

http://www.agloriousfuture.com/tornadofacts.php

They did not receive a direct hit from the tornado and the bridge was of a rare design where they could crawl amongst the exposed girders for shelter and grip.

Tornado Fact 17. Then pray.

Tornado Fact 19. The deadliest ever tornado was the 'Tri-State' tornado that passed through Missouri, Illinois and Indiana on March 18th 1925. Tornadoes tend to occur in mid-latitudes, and as they are restricted to land masses this means mainly in the northern hemisphere.

Cannot Imaging Plastic Bags Rarely Used now in China

At an import and export fair last month, a variety types of cloth bags were shown by some fabric companies who are eager to open up the marker originally belonged to the plastic bags, according to Xinhua news.

Wise Companies Take This Opportunity to Give Free Promotion Gift Bag

This “Green bag” business does not only benefit the fabric manufacturer. Whether enforcement will actually end plastic bags is not something I care to guess about.

Cannot Imaging Life Without It? At the very least, one hopes the 2008 Olympics in Beijing will deal with waste gracefully.

In China, it is becoming a fashion in many places for people to carry cotton bags or bamboo baskets when purchasing goods. I can only imagine that these ultra-thin bags deteriorate faster than the stronger ones.

There's even some hope that the pay-for-bags structure may make the sort of biodegradable bags used at the Sydney Olympics in 2000 appealing to more people. I first encountered them when buying j?anb?ng, known as Chinese crepes or Chinese pancakes, at a university convenience store. Epson launched its grocery bag design competition and Nokia gave out its fancy cloth bag for free to housewives in some communities in Beijing several weeks ago. New criteria will be made on the production of plastic bags while more durable plastic bags still will be permitted for sale by markets and shops.

In order for people to comply with the ban the notice says that government at various levels must be responsible and those who fail to observe the ban will face disciplinary penalties. Last year, San Francisco became the first US city to ban petroleum-based plastic bags in large grocery stores while in Germany retailers must pay a recycling fee if they wish to offer bags. In markets, many people are now accustomed to saying, "I don't need plastic bags."

I was worries sometimes when it comes to buying fish from the food center, you know, the fish is so smelly and dirty, what should I do then.

What Other Countries Have Done to Prevent Plastic Pollution

Elsewhere in the world, such as in South Africa, Ireland, Taiwan and Bangladesh, legislation has already been introduced to cut the use of plastic bags. The notice includes a ban on the production of ultra-thin plastic bags (thinner than 0.025 mm) that are not biodegradable. That's all about to change: In what all reports are calling a surprise move, the central government has banned ultra-thin plastic bags and will require regular bags to be sold with a clearly marked price starting June 1.

The bags subject to the ban are even thinner than what I was used to--less than 0.025mm thick. But it seems going well at the moment, and with the help of so many pretty grocery bags, people will get rid of their relationship with plastic bags soon.

China is one of the latest places to ban non-biodegradable plastic bags from supermarkets, grocery stores and markets. Prices range from free to several hundred yuan RMB, which indicates a new business and a huge market.

Cloth grocery bags, which were barely seen in China before the ban was issued, becomes the must-have for every family. Other supermarket chains, such as Delhaize of Belgium, and a number of competitive retailers in New Zealand have taken it upon themselves to stop distributing plastic bags at the check-out.

This demonstrates the way the government can simply declare an end to a technology for environmental reasons, even a 1950s technology like plastic bags. The ban takes effect shortly before the Beijing Summer Olympic Games which has already speeded up other measures to try and reduce pollution and smog in the capital. As to I know, lots of people will not get used to this trend soon since we seem to can’t get around without plastic bags. Well, not that Horrible at all!

It's a fact of life in China that just about anything comes in a little plastic bag. A lot of people are collecting this reusable bag for daily use so that they will not feel too nervous when the day really comes. These bags started accumulating in my trash bin. Once the 25-cent treat was ready to eat, the cook slipped it in a tiny sack, and I walked off to savor my junk food. In case the same embarrassing thing happens again in the supermarket, Greenbang now puts a grocery bag in her handbag.

The value of promotional gifts in today's competitive marketplace can’t be underestimated. Many businesses nowadays turn to promotional gifts to help them enhance their brand awareness, improve customer loyalty and increase sales.

A very common promotion gift is bag, but at this time, many companies changed there previous plastic bag to the cotton or nylon one, trying to catch up this coming trend and the receiver are also happy to got this kind of bag, since it’s very practical . Of course, those bags all have their companies’ logos on, which might be a kind of “soft ad”.

Some local real estate agents are more straightforward - just put their ads on the bags and everyone who carries this bag help to promote them. Fried noodles came in them, as did roasted nuts, baked goods, and fruit, among other things. There are even cool-designed cotton bags for fashionable young people. Greenbang could not imagine life without plastic bags a few months ago, and was worried about how the ban on plastic bags really carried out and whether people would accept this “radical” policy.

Global Warming Swindle Hypothesis âÃÂàReality or Misinterpretation?

According to a recently published study, global warming isn't to blame for the recent jump in hurricanes in the Atlantic.

In February 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) stated in their Fourth Assessment Report that human actions are "very likely" (i.e. Anyhow, it is well recognized that this cooling was driven mostly by aerosols (i.e. The film argues that solar activity is far more influential on global warming than any other anthropogenic or natural activity on Earth. The so-called “urban heat island” effect leads to a local warming in more populated areas, showing slightly higher temperatures due to to increased heat generated by cities, rather than a global temperature rise. Another group of experts, those who study hurricanes and who are more often skeptical about global warming, also say there is no link between global warming and hurricane frequency. Anyhow, this argument was confuted by the IPPC, indicating that the effect of the urban heat island on the global temperature trend is no more than 0.05 °C (0.09 °F) degrees thr! ough 1990.

One example of the complexity of climatic simulations is the prediction of future storm events considering global warming effects. According to the authors, solar activity (and involving cosmic rays as well as heat from the sun aiding cloud formation) is currently at an extremely high level and directly linked to changes in global temperature. The main message of this production was that man-made global warming is "a lie" and "the biggest scam of modern times." Martin Durkin and coworkers argue that the scientific consensus on climate change is the product of "a multibillion-dollar worldwide industry, created by fanatically anti-industrial environmentalists, supported by scientists peddling scare stories to chase funding and propped up by complicit politicians and the media". They attribute the recent increase to a natural multi-decade cycle.
Most of the Global Warming Swindle Hypothesis seems to be a misinterpretation of scientific data but discussion on details between Global Warming Scientists is still going on.

Other facts presented by the film were shown to be incorrect or misinterpreted. According to a recently published study, published online by research meteorologist Tom Knutson in the journal Nature Geoscience and resumed in the New York Times (May 18, 2008), global warming isn't to blame for the recent jump in hurricanes in the Atlantic. One example of the complexity of climatic simulations is the prediction of future storm events considering global warming effects. In the past, Knutson has raised concerns about the effects of climate change on storms. Rainfall within 30 miles of a hurricane should jump by 37 percent and wind strength should increase by about 2 percent”, Knutson's study says.

There are already critical reactions on this new publication. This statement is the result of very tough discussions on a worldwide scale between thousands of climate researchers whether human activity is the main cause of global warming. What the film does not mention is that solar activity has declined over the last 30 years - at the same time as the major spike in global temperature.

But there are some statements related to the influence of the oceanic mass and water vapour on climate change which are more difficult to confute. And Knutson is not alone with this view. MIT hurricane meteorologist Kerry Emanuel claims that the computer model used by Knutson is not adequate enough to look at storms and according to Kevin Trenberth, a climate scientist from the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., Knutson's computer model is poor at assessing tropical weather and ''fail to replicate storms with any kind of fidelity.'' It also does not considering well enough the intensity, duration and size of the storm events, as not only the number of hurricanes is important to evaluate. There is nothing contradictory about this cooling when all sources of radiation changes are considered. The study predicts that by the end of the century the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic will fall by 18 percent. However, the biggest storms, those with wi! nds of more than 110 mph, would only decrease in frequency by 8 percent. The documentary showcases scientists, politicians, economists, writers, and others who are sceptical of the scientific consensus on anthropogenic (or man-made) global warming. His new paper has the potential to heat up a simmering debate among meteorologists about current and future effects of global warming in the Atlantic. with 90% or greater probability) the cause of global warming, indicated by an increase of 0.75 degrees in average global temperatures over the last 100 years. The film asserts for instance that records of atmospheric CO2 levels since 1940 show a continuing increase, but during this period, global temperature decreased until 1975, and has increased since then. Eppers is manager of the consulting company E&R InterConsult and founder of the Two-Approach Job Assistant and Care! er Guide with daily updated job opportunities for renewable energy specialists.
It probably has the largest impact on the planet's temperature and climatic conditions, much larger than CO2. Oswald J. This argument probably is correct and it is well recognized that water vapor is responsible for the natural warming up of the surface temperature to approximately 30-35ºC. Anthropogenic greenhouse effect, according to the film’s argumentation, is only about 2% of the total “natural” greenhouse effect, which corresponds to a 0.6-0.7 ºC increase in temperature. The results of this discussion were presented to the public in many publications, for instance in Martin Durkin´s documentary “The Great Global Warming Swindle”, presented in March 2007 at UK´s Channel 4. A second argument that easily can be invalidated is t! he impact of the so-called “solar variation theory” on global warming. pollution) in the atmosphere. There is also a series of scientists questioning the temperature records used in the databases as temperature differences attributed to the greenhouse effect are reasonable small (fractions of a ºC). Some of the scientists, opposing the main stream of greenhouse gas theories, simply argue that it has not yet been ascertained whether humans are the primary cause of global warming or if there are other natural variations responsible for this phenomenon like increased solar activity, cosmic rays or variations in natural climatic cycles. Water particles in the form of clouds act to reflect incoming solar heat, but the film argues that the effects of clouds cannot be accurately simulated by scientists attempting to predict future weather patterns and their effects on global warming. This estimate is somewhat smaller compared to the results of mu! ch more sophisticated simulations (0.9 - 2.7ºC), but th! ere is u ndoubtedly an anthropogenic effect of CO2 increasing the average surface temperature. His computer model also forecasts that “hurricanes and tropical storms will be wetter and fiercer. I think global warming is a big concern, but when it comes to hurricanes the evidence for changes is pretty darn tiny,'' Landsea said.

About the Author:
Dr.

Positive feedback comes from NOAA hurricane meteorologist Chris Landsea , who wasn't part of this study, praised Knutson's work as ''very consistent with what's being said all along. Water vapour makes up about 98% of the greenhouse gases by volume and provides something between 40 to 80 percent of the natural greenhouse effect. According to the prediction, the number of hurricanes touching land in the US and its neighbors will drop by about 30 percent because of wind factors. The biggest decrease is forecasted for storms with winds between 39 and 73 mph (normal tropical storms), who would decrease by 27 percent.

It's not all good news from Knutson's study, however.

Water Gardens Designed For Wildlife

An inclined beach of small stones provides a natural entry into the pool for them.

Although the location, style, and size of your water fountain all contribute somewhat to your success with wildlife. Marginal plants (those that grow in the shallows of the water garden) also offer cover and food. But the more that it resembles a country pond, the greater the number and variety of creatures it will attract because of the greater variety of habitats it offers.

The Depth of Your Water Garden

If you're planning a water garden that will support fish and plants as well as other wildlife activity, you'll need to consider constructing it to contain a variety of depths. This plant requires full-sun.

• Water mint (Mentha aquatica) grows about 1 foot high and bears small, light lavender flowers in mid- to late summer with nectar that is attractive to bees. Plants over-wintering in the garden pond will need deep areas, too.

In a climate with winter temperatures of minus 10° to minus 20° F, the pond will need to be 24 inches deep. In regions where average minimum temperatures of minus 30° to minus 40° F, the pool should have areas that are 30 to 36 inches deep. It should be planted no deeper than 3 inches.

• Water lily (Nymphaea spp.) spreads from 1 to 50 square feet, depending on the variety. It spreads rapidly and can be invasive. Raccoons, mosquitoes, cats that love fish, and even the occasional rambunctious, water-loving dog may also become visitors to your water garden. Plants with floating leaves shade the water and serve as insect landing pads. But all in all, water gardens extend the ecosystem delightfully into your own backyard.

Water gardens designed for wildlife in a country setting may attract abundant wildlife because animals are more plentiful in locations near their natural habitat. Their patches of color draw birds and butterflies to feed on seeds and flower nectar. Birds will take a sip of water from even a simple tub, and they'll bathe in a splashing fountain. Its flowers come in many colors and grow from 1 to 10 inches across.
Water gardens designed for wildlife are sure to bring you many hours of viewing pleasure. It prefers full sun and still water and makes a good place for frogs and other small animals to rest. Submerged plants release small amounts of oxygen into the water, which support insect larvae.
• Swamp milkweed or butterfly plant (Asclepias incarnata) grows about 3 feet high, and its yellow-to-orange, red, yellow, or white flowers attract butterflies for the nectar. Having a diversity of depths, rocks, and plants will be key to attracting wildlife to your water gardens.

Plants for Your Water Garden

Native plants, which offer food and shelter natural to the birds and animals of your region, draw wildlife to your garden pond. Grasses and hedges, especially evergreen or semi-evergreen species, provide cover at the water's edge for the better part of the year. Fish need at least 18 inches of water to survive. Trees and shrubs are especially good because they provide homes for nesting wildlife as well as food and cover.

Perennials and annuals are attractions, too. Hardiness depends on the variety.

Yet even a big-city water garden draws birds, butterflies, and other animals.

Style, Size and Location Can Make a Difference

A large garden may attract a more diverse selection of wild things, but a small garden will surprise you with the number of animals it lures.

Wildlife won't know whether your water garden is formal or informal, of course. To over-winter them in areas where the pool freezes, they will need a place on the bottom deeper than that. Those with smaller leaves, like duckweed, are food for ducks and fish. Butterflies love shallow pools. Check with your local extension service or water garden supplier to be sure the water garden you're planning will have depths suitable to your garden and your region.

Many amphibians, small animals, and birds like gradual approaches to water. Insects and other animals-dragonflies, frogs, salamanders-will be drawn to your water garden and to the plants that accompany it.

Of course, water gardens designed for wildlife may also attract wildlife you would rather not deal with.
