How Green is My Laser Printer? Notes of Caution for Eco-conscious Buyers

Users of some printers will replace four drums every time they replace four cartridges, whether they are aware of it or not. But of course, the term "toner cartridge" is used colloquially to describe a "print cartridge" - and thereby the claim for planet-friendliness becomes very opaque indeed.

Why? Certainly an arrangement which separates the two is more environmentally friendly because the drum part needs to be changed less often, therefore producing less waste.

In addition to the toner/OPC arrangement, a single-pass colour laser printer (unlike monolaser printers) is very likely also to use a belt of some description. You can find out more about Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Compliance on Officemagic's comprehensive office equipment website at: =>http://www.officemagic.co.uk/ It also infers that there is only one print cartridge - but how often is this the case? This is certainly the case when discussing laser printer consumables, and in particular, so-called "toner cartridges".

Some manufacturers are happy to advertise their printers as requiring only "toner cartridge" changes in its useful lifetime. Certainly in the case of a single pass colour laser printer, there are actually FOUR cartridges (CMYK). It might be true that the unit to replace includes only toner: but often (and usually in the lower end cost range of laser printers) , there will also be a developer. Even though there is no need to replace a fuser unit or apply maintenance or cleaning kits, an electrostatic paper transport belt cannot last indefinitely. No doubt these "green" advertising messages are made as a genuine attempt to guide potential customers - but consumers need to arm themselves with clear knowledge of terminology to ensure that advertising messages are clearly understood. Most manufacturers, and models within each manufacturer range, offer solutions which operate between these two extremes.

It has often been shown that printers with a two-part supplies configuration tend to be less expensive to run than those with an integrated drum. Depending on the volume put through the machine, it may need replacing before the user is ready to get rid of the printer. On the other hand, Kyocera is an example of a manufacturer which has only toner in the toner cartridge, with the developer and OPC as separate units. This is an interesting claim, and raises the question "what is a Toner Cartridge?".

Such advertising implies that there is no need, therefore, to replace drums, belts or fusers, for example. And if this belt is not replaceable, it would classify the printer as a disposable device', which is perhaps not particularly environmentally responsible.

Thus, when looking at selling points for lower-end laser printers, buyers should be wary of the full significance of replacing "only" the Toner Cartridge. Advertising agencies are working overtime to ensure we have clear consciences in buying their wares. This selling point has a variety of meanings for the eco-conscious, which require close scrutiny to ensure a complete understanding of the true environmental impact of such a replacement.

The comments in this article are by no means a call to avoid attractive, low cost colour laser printers. Such an impact requires a look beyond advertising hyperbole.

------

Jimi St. Because a print cartridge will include up to 3 different replaceable elements. They are rather a caution to ensure that they are bought with an understanding of their true potential impact on the environment, and the steps to take to minimise this. This developer is a magnetic roller which transfers toner to the Organic Photo Conductor (OPC) drum.
These days, we cannot escape from the major theme in so much business and domestic electrical equipment product advertising - claim after claim of environmentally-caring, carbon-neutral, green-focussed manufacturing philosophies. This takes the form either of an Image Transfer Belt (that transfers the image from the OPC drums to the paper) or an electrostatic Paper Transport Belt (that moves the paper in front of the OPC drums). In some models, the cartridge can also include the OPC itself.

Thus any statement of the type " you need only replace the print cartridge and nothing else", seems to infer that you need not replace the drum, maintenance, fuser, cleaning or transfer kits. Pierre writes for several Office Equipment suppliers in the UK, including Officemagic.

Beyond a Fuel Saver

The engine can actually run without oil for a short period of time without any damage because the product impregnates the metal parts. One of the worst things is to get a flat on a motorcycle in the front at 70 miles an hour. Bitron has another product that just may save your life. Get this you will see a guy stab a motorcycle tire with a screw driver and it loses no air. If you are like me, one of my biggest worries is my wife or one of my children driving down some lonely dark road and runs over a nail, piece of glass or even a screw and have to pull off the road to fix that flat. I have used just about every fuel saver product out there trying to get better mileage on my cars but knew there was more to it. Bitron has a product that when added to diesel fuel, lubricates the engine like never before.

What about the internal parts of your engine? Bitron has a product that you add to your engine when you do an oil change, it lubricates the engine so well it will actually reduce the friction to 0.

There have been a lot of companies out there selling all kinds of fuel additives that claim to get you better gas mileage and some do just that. I would also like to mention you can start up your own home business with this product. Will oil do what is needed to protect all those moving parts?

How about the transmission and the rear axle? My answer to that question is positively no. We have a waterless car wash product that not only is used on the paint, but it does the chrome, tires, windows, dash, seats, inside the door panels and anything else you want to use it on. First if they can do it they run the risk of getting hurt. Sulfur itself is not a lubricant; but in the process of removing sulfur from diesel fuel much of the lubrication is removed as well. It also acts as a fuel saver because reducing the friction in the engine will give you better mileage as well as the additive to the fuel system. Don’t believe it check out the video at http://www.cheapfuel.bitronglobal.com and see it for yourself. That is fine but your car or truck is your second largest investment and there is more to protecting your investment then just adding a product that only saves fuel.

Did you know that the oil companies have taken out the sulfur in diesel fuels?

If all that does not impress you? The car may be on an incline and fall off the jack or some drunk may crash into them or even some nut comes along and does them harm. They not only do you get paid a commissions for signing people up and selling product, but they also give you gas cards so you never have to pay for fuel again.

Am interested in keeping our environment clean, saving fuel and prolonging engine life

However, the bad news is that the fuel is not burning as well and damage is being done to engine parts due to a lack of lubrication. It is recommended to change all your oils after a period of time to rid the oil reservoirs of the tiny filings that is produced while your new engine, transmission and rear axles break in.

Well you might think well that should be it but wait! It does not matter if you do it in the sun or shade and will not turn any rubber you have on your care white like most other waxes do. Sulfur has been removed from diesel fuels throughout North America in the interest of reducing toxic and acidic emissions. What about your tires? Until now I have been dissatisfied because they mostly deal with a fuel additive that you add to your gas tank. Yes Bitron protects your entire automobile by adding these lubricating products to the entire drive train.
Bitron has a product that is put into the tires and once in you will practically never get a flat again, unless it is a side blow out. Or have you ever tried to change a back tire on a motorcycle on the road, it is a nightmare.

Oh yea don’t forget the outside of your vehicle.

Earth Day âÃÂàThen and Now

Talk of environment or sustainability did not come into effect until the early 1970’s.

One prominent politician, Gaylord Nelson, then Senator from Wisconsin, had been frustrated throughout the 1960s because only a few of his Congressional colleagues had any interest in environmental issues. In short, Earth Day launched the Environmental decade with a bang.

Perhaps the most impressive observance was in New York City, whose mayor, John V. That day left a permanent impact on the politics of America. One innovative group of demonstrator’s grabbed attention by dragging a net filled with dead fish down the thoroughfare, shouting to passersby, "This could be you!" Later in the day, a rally filled Union Square to overflowing as Mayor Lindsay, assisted by celebrities Paul Newman and Ali McGraw, spoke from a raised platform looking out over a sea
of smiling faces.

Here is your call to action, celebrate Earth Day 2008 on April 22nd. In the ten years since 1970 much of the basic legislation needed to protect the environment has been enacted into law: the Clean Air Act, the Water Quality Improvement Act, the Water Pollution and Control Act Amendments, the Resource Recovery Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, the Toxic Substances Control Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Federal
Environmental Pesticide Control Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Federal Land Policy and Management Act, and the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act. However, during his travels across the United States, Nelson had been greatly impressed by the dedication and the expertise of the many student and citizen volunteers who were trying to solve pollution problems in their communities. It showed the political and opinion leadership of the country that the people cared, that they were ready for political action, that the politicians had better get ready, too. That was the important objective and achievement of Earth Day. Lindsay, had thrown the full weight of his influence behind Earth Day. In the 1960’s most talk was about conservation and preservation of our parks and recreational areas. It forcibly thrust the issue of environmental quality and resources conservation into the political dialogue of the Nation. Plant a tre! e, reduce green house gasses, or make a commitment to start recycling, these are small steps and yet these steps can do so much for our environment.

For two hours, Fifth Avenue was closed to traffic between 14th Street and 59th Street, bringing midtown Manhattan to a virtual standstill.
In the late 1960’s air pollution clouded our cities with toxic fumes spewed out by cars and factories. It was on that day that Americans made it clear that they understood and were deeply concerned over the deterioration of our environment and the mindless dissipation of our resources. Air pollution in New York, Los Angeles and other major cities were linked to disease and death, thus leaving city life barely breathable. And, the most important piece of environmental legislation in our history, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) was signed into law on January 1, 1970. Ohio had another jolt when Cleveland's Cuyahoga River, an artery inundated with oil and toxic chemicals, burst into flames by spontaneous combustion.

In addition to the media coverage about the Great Lakes, the media coverage of the massive youth rallies of 1969 - as well as the ghetto riots of 1965 to 1968 - helped to impress on the American public that the United States had become an urban country with complex problems compounded by huge numbers of people.

Early in December 1969, Senator Nelson of Wisconsin and a 25-year old named Denis Hayes, former President of the Stanford student body, as national coordinator, became making plans for the inaugural Earth Day.

On April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day was celebrated. In New York, as elsewhere, self-policing demonstrators left surprising little litter in their wake.

Earth Day 1970 made it clear that the public is committed to saving our environment.

Another concern was the large-scale use of pesticides, which were often used in highly populated areas. Although the battle is far from over we have made substantial progress.

Computer and Electronics Recycling

Looking at Some Frightening Facts

Right now, you may be using a computer to read this article. Luckily, it is easy to find companies that will accept batteries for recycling. These topics are certainly important and do merit attention, but there are other simple tasks that you can do on a regular basis that will also help to keep our Earth better protected. These include:

- Best Buy

- Circuit City

- Office Max

- Office Depot

- Radio Shack

Old computers and computer equipment can also be recycled. All you really need to do is find a company that specializes in computer and electronics recycling. In fact, there are over 500 laws in the United States regarding recycling!

Thankfully, you don’t have to know all of the details of each of these laws. With these programs, the equipment will be dismantled and all of the useable parts and materials will be removed. This means we will be facing some major disposal issues when consumers finally decide to get rid of these devices.

Safely Disposing of Computers and Electronics

When it comes to computer and electronics recycling, you actually have many options available to you. One of these tasks is to participate in computer and electronics recycling programs.

Why You Should Participate in Computer and Electronics Recycling Programs

There are many reasons for participating in computer and electronics recycling programs. If you are a business owner, participating in a computer and electronics recycling program is even more important because failure to properly recycle can cost your business greatly.

Recycling batteries is particularly important simply because we use so many of them and because they contain so many toxic chemicals.
Keeping the Earth Healthy with the Help of a Computer and Electronics Recycling Program

Although there has been a recent growing awareness about the importance of caring for our environment, most of our attention is turned toward issues such as alternative fuel sources and global warming. So, if your equipment is so old that it is no longer useful or if it is so damaged that it cannot be repaired, turn it into a recycling program. But, do you know that computers are the number one cause of electronic waste? In fact, according to the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, about 75% of electronics that are now obsolete are actually being stored. Recycling also reduces pollution and helps save natural resources because materials do not have to be developed from scratch.

When it comes to computer and electronics recycling, however, there are even more benefits. More specifically, failing to recycle computer and electronics equipment unnecessarily releases toxins into our environment. You can contact your local waste management company or local government officials to find out more about these types of programs. In addition, you can rest easy in knowing that you are properly following the laws that have been established by your local government as well as by the State and Federal government.

Unfortunately, many consumers are actually hanging on to their old electronic devices. This is partially because of growing environmental concerns, but also because there are numerous laws regarding recycling. We all know that, in general terms, recycling is beneficial because it reuses materials rather than putting them in landfills or incinerating them. That makes computer and electronics recycling a win-win situation for everyone involved!

Total Reclaim Inc is a Seattle computer recycling company dedicated to protecting the environment.

With all of the different components and with the quick evolution of computer technology, consumers are going through computers rapidly as they try to keep up with the changes. Another option is to donate your computer if it is still usable.

You can generally get computers recycled by handing them over to major manufacturers. These include:

- Acer

- Apple

- Dell

- Epson

- Gateway

- Hewlett Packard

- IBM

- Lexmark

- NEC

Many states and counties also have special government programs for computer and electronics recycling. In fact, many retail stores will recycle batteries. These government sponsored recycling programs may be free or you may have to pay a fee in order to use the program.

By taking advantage of these computer and electronics recycling programs, you can prevent hazardous materials from leaking into the environment and causing harm to our Earth.

Drought Management - Survival In The Dry

Should there be a general term trend towards reduced rainfall these plants once established should cope well.

Crops Selection

Selecting vegetable crops that have a shorter growing season, often the case with dwarf varieties will save on precious water.

Balanced Fertilizer

Fertilizers containing high levels of nitrogen should be used sparingly; however, a balanced fertilizer at the correct time-usually spring and autumn may be used with care. The most efficient methods of irrigation that deliver water close to the root system of the remaining plants also needs to be employed.

Water Harvesting System For Hobby Farm

Drought proofing my farm in the long term will also require an effective water harvesting system. Water storing crystals as well as products that enable water to penetrate water repellant soils are also available.
Dealing with extended drought conditions can be a daunting affair. In the event of increased rainfall over subsequent seasons after a drought however, there may be problems due to an excess of water given that these types of plantings are normally suited to dry or very well drained soils.

Some tactics I have currently employed on my farm are outlined below. I have planted native windbreak trees that generally have a lower rainfall requirement than currently received in our region. The presence of shelter and ample drinking water is paramount if animals are to be comfortable during hot and dry conditions.

This article is taken from Alf's Hobby farm site at My Hobby Farm.

Long- term climatic trends are hard to predict, however, consideration needs to be given to issues such as climate change. Deep ripping of the planting area also helps! any rain to penetrate within the root zone of the seedling. Plants treated in this manner are better suited to survive extreme conditions as the cell walls within plant tissues become thicker and stronger. Combined with heavy mulching around the seedling, it will have a greatly increased chance of surviving. Ensuring the soil is well managed and carefully cultivated in order to protect its structure will allow plant root systems to become quickly established. Foliar sprays extracted from an organic source such as seaweed are useful as they contain a range of micronutrients that strengthen plant cells. Polymer films that are sprayed onto leaf surfaces can also be used in order to reduce evaporation from plants. Protection from strong hot winds will also reduce evaporation of moisture from around plants. Alf also writes in details on Small Farm Irrigation as well as farm machiney and imple! ments covering Tractors, Tillers and cultivators.

Ben provides assistance and consultancy to real and virtual estate owners in Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Young fruiting trees should have any fruit removed and not be fed with fertilizers which encourage tender growth. However, personal pride and a desire to see the farm develop, rather than deteriorate into a dry and unappealing place to spend time, is enough incentive to be proactive in the face of drought conditions.

Special consideration is also required when farm animals are present.

Established plants may need to be pruned in order to reduce the level of transpiration from leaf surfaces. This process will be constrained by the available finances, but should prove worthwhile in the long term. These synthetic polymers are currently used when transplanting established plants as a measure to reduce transplanting shock. As well, general strategies for the future ! are also mentioned.

Soil Cultivation For Hobby Farming

When planting young trees and shrubs, ensure the soil is cultivated to reduce competition from weeds growing close to the seedlings. Ben is also in the process of publishing a eBook on hobby farming.

More common plants and those that can be easily and quickly replaced may need to be removed in order to reduce competition for water. Long term plantings such as fruiting trees and palms need to be carefully reviewed and not planted until conditions improve.

In extreme cases some plants will need to be sacrificed. Not knowing when a drought will break not only tests farmers, the general community in towns and cities is also affected by subsequent water restrictions and higher food prices.

Drought And Hobby Farm

The hobby farmer is mostly insulated from the financial effects of drought since it is not the main source of income. Exp! enditure on tanks and soil contouring in order to channel exce! ss moist ure to storage areas will need to occur.

Flowers that mix with our Roses

To begin with the dwarfs, for spring we can have Snowdrops, Muscari or Grape Hyacinths, winter Aconite, small Narcissus, and Scilla, or the dainty blue and white Chionodoxa. The leaves are shaped like a shamrock, but a rich brown, and it bears tiny yellow flowers which only come out when the sun shines on them. It is easily brought up from seed, and if sown one spring there will be no further trouble, as it comes up every year. Frames must be brought into use or the young plants can be bought.

When rose trees are rather far apart, plants with a greater amount of foliage and deeper roots can be used. Salpiglossis look beautiful grouped around the stem of a rose, and are such graceful quiet annuals that they enhance the beauty of flowers overhead. The great thing is to get these annuals up in time. The brown Wood-Sorrel, Oxalis, which is only about two inches high, makes a very pretty carpet. S.Caespitosa, S.Hypnoides, and others of the mossy tribe, are extre! mely pretty if not allowed to grow too thick. They grow from eighteen inches to two feet high, and take away from the bare effect of the rose stems very well indeed. They must not be planted too close and only last year's cuttings must be set, as old plants are much too large and straggling.

Some of the smaller growing Saxifrages make a nice carpet, and are excellent for edgings. It is a very good plan to buy the seedlings when a few inches high and the result is more certain.

Japanese Pinks are exceedingly pretty, and so easy to grow. Columbines, for instance, are well adapted for association with roses, especially when these are growing in shady places. Coreopsis Tinctoria, which has yellow flowers with brown centers is also excellent for this purpose. The Poppies, if chiefly shades of yellow and orange, should only be planted amongst cream roses or yellow roses, and the Leptosiphon, being rose pink, only amongst white roses, or those of a simi! lar shade of pink.

Round the standards
For rose standards something taller is needed. Statices are much employed instead of grasses, their innumerable tiny flowers are so light and airy, and are produced very freely. Pansies and Violas, if the delicate shades are employed, they sometimes look very happy amongst the roses. They need not be thrown away, but can be divided or cuttings may be taken, and put out in a shady place until the autumn comes round, when they will return to their beds.

Summer friends

For summer more subdued colors must be employed, such as will not detract from the loveliness of the rose itself. They do not flower for so long a period as the annuals, but their leaves are very fresh, and plants which flower later can be mixed with them.

Both like much the same soil, and both, specially Pansies, do not like a blaze of sun, and therefore will do very well with them. Their fringed crimson and white flowers can be cut in quantities withou! t detracting from the appearance of the rose beds, and they continue in bloom right up to the frosts. All these are short enough to do well under the branches of the rose trees.

For planting in the spaces between the trees (and for the first year or two these will be fairly large) such flowers as Forget-me-nots, spring Anemones, young Wallflowers, Aubrietia, and Violets can be used. The golden colored variety is the most distinct and has a good effect grouped round some cream standard roses.

All these annuals should be treated as half hard, for it is little use sowing the seed in the open ground if an early show is desired. Both the Violets and the Wallflowers must be taken up as soon as they have finished flowering, or their roots, particularly those of the Violet, will be inextricably entangled with those of the roses. Celosias, too, are feathery annuals to be had in various colors, and not half enough known. Shirley and Iceland Poppies, Leptosi! phon, Whitlavia, and Godetia, look as well as anything, but ca! re must be taken to see that the color of the annual harmonises with that of the roses.
There are many flowers that mix with our roses. It must not be allowed to get too thick, or to approach quite close to the stems of the roses.

There are several lowly Campanulas also suitable for carpets. Thrift is another good edging for rose beds. The Salpiglossis give blooms of several shades if a mixed packet of seed is sown, purple, tawny, terracotta, and many other common shades. Naturally it is only where the beds or borders abut on a gravel path that any edging is required and turf makes the best frame of all.

Annuals

Some annuals make very good plants for associating with roses.

The unnoticed importance of the Spark PlugâÃÂÃÂs Heat Range and itâÃÂÃÂs Impact in the Environment

This new product was recognized by Cal EPA/ARB. And of there up to when all the humanity can have replaced their present vehicles by which today are in investigation and development process; without any doubt will have to pass some generations.

Meanwhile, every day, each one of the proprietors and drivers of vehicles of internal combustion engines, are contaminating dangerously our planet, destroying the delicate and fragile environment with each kilometer that we cross and with each gallon of fuel that we used. Let me explain you why.

When talking with automotive experts, every one of them talks about the releases generated by automobiles that were not well tuned which had the incorrect mixture of air and gas, either too rich or too poor. Sparkplugs which were colder or hotter than what is needed, according with the different load conditions, gasoline qualities, engine maintenance, engine’s exigencies.

And this occurs because almost nobody knows the great power of the sparkplug’s heat range, and the critical role that they play in the combustion process inside the combustion chamber.

What happens with sparkplugs which were colder or hotter than needed in the real life is the following:

If a spark plug is colder than necessary, the Combustion chamber's temperature decreases (similar effect as a too Rich Mixture) and the drop of the temperature brings as a consequence that the Carbon Monoxide (CO) emissions and the Hydrocarbons that are not burnt (HC) increase dangerously, polluting the Environment.

If the sparkplug is hotter than necessary, the Combustion Chamber's temperature increases (similar effect as a too Poor Mixture) and this increase of temperature, brings as a consequence that the emissions of Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) also increase dangerously, polluting the Environment.

But, how to know what is exactly the heat range of the spark plugs that any one needs?

But no one considered that even with the correct mixture, the vehicles could dangerously increase their emissions, if they had sparkplugs with a Heat Range that is no the best suited, to any individual driving habits and/or engine conditions.
In recent years, humanity has become aware of the great dangers that emissions, which, due to development and modernity are being released increasingly to the Environment, represent in the future.

The devastating effects over the life and the conditions of the environment are so great, that if they do not rush in modifying the toxic mechanisms and technologies, we could go to the edge of the abyss, from which we would not have the way to go out unharmed.
Facing this reality it is foreseeable that many economic activities will urgently change, generating new and variable models, as well as transformations so radical that maybe some products and processes will disappear, as they are known now.

How to diminish the emissions it is the general preoccupation.
Experts from different disciplines, politicians from all the ideologies, technicians and media press, are talking with intensity about the urgent necessity to do something of immediate application and great effectiveness to mitigate the disastrous effects of the contamination.

Bravo!

It is clearly then that it is an indispensable imperative to dominate the sooner the polluting gas discharge of the vehicles that at the moment are circulating on the Earth. These emissions are originated from factories, machines and vehicles, as well as from different products for industrial and domestic use.

Could you sometimes before have been imagined that the apparently humble spark plug could have been so powerful and so valuable?

It is time to have your own. The spark plug’s catalogues are not the best guide because only has the suggestion of the stock spark plug, and it is only good to any vehicle at manufacturing time.

It is almost a blind guesswork. To try to find the spark plug with the perfect heat range for each situation can be endless, boring, expensive and highly risky since an error in the selection can put in serious risk the engine.

Luckily in recent times was released to the market the ultimate tuning device, the Spark Plug Heat Range Determinator. The unique on the planet to precisely select the heat range of the spark plugs that any driver needs. It is very good to the humanity that this intention should be sincere and that these speeches will be motivating the direct ones and indirectly involved with these aspects to put immediately into action.

Being known by all that the major generating of contamination is the automotive population, that is the direct responsible of the generation of 80% of the pollutants that are destroying our planet and the life as we know, there are indefatigable efforts; ones more advanced that others, to find cleanest fuels and technologies to the future vehicles.

All that is very good and worthy of applause without doubt, nevertheless, from now until which such innovations could be lists to be sent to the market, it has to even pass long time. Only by this we will be really making something effective that allow us to inherit to our descendants a healthful and livable planet.

Is it only a dream? Is it something almost impossible to reach?
Believe it or not, it is not only possible, but also immediate, cheap, and easy to reach.

All what is necessary is to customize the selection of the heat range of the spark plug to be installed in any gasoline vehicle all around the Earth. We would then condemn the future generations to an obscure, inhospitable world, in which scarce food and the lack of health would be the norm. It is not as simple as to change one or two codes of heat range. The real life of any vehicle demands a customization that is not included in the information contained in these catalogues.

Selecting the colder or hotter spark plugs needed in order to fit perfectly the incomparable and unique mixture of driving habits, life’s styles and states of maintenance and exigencies of each engine, are not easy tasks. Moreover it is more often occasions than believed, it is necessary to change much more of 10 codes before finding the spark plug that fits exactly with the needs of each person in particular.

âÃÂÃÂEnvironmentalâÃÂàGroup Supports and Encourages Generation of Toxic Waste

Not a darn thing except fund raising!

The organization is totally hypocritical as the people who run the website drive around in their cars made of newly mined "dirty" iron, zinc, copper, etc.
While this seems like an incredibly odd statement, it is very true and I state plainly it to make a point. So what do they accomplish? I have spent time at a Couer mine here in Nevada â€ÂÂ" and know it to be a clean operation. If you want to give some money to make the world a better place, find the local homeless shelter in your community. Here in the US, they must pay the government in advance for the cost for the reclamation for any land disturbed by their operations. So don't let an extremist website full of baloney, that offers few if any facts to support their allegations convince you somehow that all newly mined gold and silver are somehow "dirty". The gold, copper and other resources have to come from somewhere, so it gets mined in Bolivia, or Namibia or someplace like that. That mine is highly regulated and very clean. They use the very "dirty" gold and silver they condemn in the contacts of all their electronic devices. Most recycled gold is reco! vered from computers and other electronics parts. So in the end they really are encouraging and supporting the generation of increased amounts of toxic waste.

The truth is that mining companies are subject to thousands upon thousands of laws limiting their effects on the environment. There are others like “Great Basin Mine Watch”, a phony organization located right here in my hometown of Reno. Mining is one of the most heavily regulated businesses out there. Of course not! These countries are poorly prepared to regulate the mines there and as a result, more pollution is created than per pound of metal mined than there would be if it were just mined here. They imply that since recycled gold is already out of the ground, it is therefore somehow more environmentally friendly. Just more examples of "better than you" types of groups that do for themselves exactly what they preach that you shouldn't do!

The big “thing” which is promoted at “no dirty gold” is the use of recycled gold. These companies must obtain and hold dozens of permits governing the impacts their operations. The "not in my backyard" perspective promoted by these groups is actually a very selfish and self-centered one.

So don’t buy the baloney, don’t fall for the lie, don’t drink the Kool-Aid! Yes, a century ago, miners made some serious environmental impacts. The folks in the nearby town are glad to have them in their county - for many years it has been the county's largest business and their taxes pay a considerable portion of the county budget. According to them, there is no acceptable gold mining, without exception â€ÂÂ" all newly mined gold is termed “dirty gold”. Environmentally speaking, recycled gold is probably WORSE than newly mined gold as far as pollution created per ounce of gold. But they have to keep up the lie so the money continues flowing into their coffers.

One of nodirtygold's chief targets is Couer 'Alene Mines. The environmental impacts from that mine beyond their property boundary are near zero. Any money donated to “no dirty gold” is wasted and accomplishes nothing of significance.

His information page on prospecting for gold can be viewed at: http://nevada-outback-gems.com/prospect/chris_prospect.htm

More information about the truth of this story can be viewed at: http://nevada-outback-gems.com/Reference_pages/Dirty_gold/Dirty_Gold.htm

Chris is an independent investor and his market comments can be viewed at: http://nevada-outback-gems.com/gold_invest/Investing_Gold.htm
They must pay for their own reclamation before they even turn their first shovel full of dirt. "Dirty" platinum and palladium reduces the smog emissions of the "dirty" gasoline they burn to run their dirty cars. They have little expertise or knowledge in the environmental field, and even less concerning the mining industry, and without evidence they claim that somehow all mining destroys the land or is a horrible threat to someone. “No Dirty Gold” is not the only one of these scammers. Supporting mining in the USA actually reduces worldwide pollution. Not just their phones and TVs, but the very computers they use to create their website to bash the mining industry contains that same "dirty" gold they are condemning, and telling you not to use! Yet this is one of the companies repeatedly attacked by â€! œno dirty gold” on their web site. They love their nice luxurious electrically enhanced lives, and so are hypocrites to the extreme. There is an anti mining website ["nodirtygold.org"] that was created by a left leaning group of folks which people sometimes ask about. Think about it â€ÂÂ" there is actually more pollution created on a worldwide basis than if those resources were mined simply here and used here because of our strong environmental laws. You can note from their website that there is virtually no documentation for any of their allegations - its because 99% of the allegations are simply baseless. I have been there in person to see it. You know they all live in houses plumbed with "dirty" copper pipe, their houses are also wired with copper, they drive cars wired with copper, use computers and cell phones wired with copper, etc. The facts just don’t support the charge. Responsible companies, irresponsible, no distinction is ! made â€ÂÂ" all are deemed evil and the baby is cast out! with th e bathwater. The lie they don’t tell you is that the process of recycling gold involves the use of strong acids (creating hazardous wastes) and incineration of plastic electronic components (creating serious air pollution emissions and even more toxic waste). It's like a bunch of crack addicts holding a protest against crack makers, when they are the ones who buy the product and keep the makers in business. All of these anti-mining organizations use the very products they condemn. Most of these operations make highly efficient use of donated money to help those who are down and out. However this is not 1877, and things have changed. We have the EPA, BLM, MSHA and many other Federal, State and local government agencies to constantly regulate and minimize the impacts of their operations.

Another important point about all these groups who oppose all mining in the US is that their efforts are actually increasing pollution in small developing nations populated mostly by minorities. The Couer mine I have visited is their silver and gold mine at Rochester in Nevada. Is there any validity to their claim that recycled gold is somehow environmentally better than newly mined gold?

Raking in Money with Google AdSense

AdSense combines pay-per-click and pay-per-thousand-impressions advertising.
Create a channel using an appropriate name. But how does that help you earn money? Ensure that you do not make any changes to the code while pasting it on your Web page.

Google AdSense is a popular way of displaying paid advertisements on a Web site as the Google ads are less obtrusive than other banners. You can enjoy the benefits of AdSense even if you do not have your own Web site. Google reviews your application and lets you know the application status in two to three days over mail. This means that you get paid not only for valid clicks on the advertisements on your site but also for the number of impressions on your Web pages. This opens a small window in which you enter your channel name. By offering search facilities to your visitors, you not only extend the time users linger on your Web site but also earn money by displaying AdSense advertisements on the search result pages.

If you want to enroll for Google AdSense and display AdSense ads on your pages, follow the steps below:

Visit the Google AdSense home page at https://www.google.com/adsense.

Click the Sign Up Now button.
Fill in the online application, which asks for basic information such as your Web site URL and your contact information.
Select either or both of the two AdSense optionsâ€ÂÂ"AdSense for Content and AdSense for Search.
Submit your application. The channel name will appear in the Your Selected Channels section.
Finally, click the Submit and Get Code Button. Read on to find out.

Google AdSense is an easy way of displaying relevant, unobtrusive advertisements on your Web site. D. You can either create your own blog at www.blogger.com or create Web pages using the Google Page Creator toolwww.pages.google.com. All in all, Google AdSense provides you a great way of earning money from your Web site if it is rich in content and attracts a fair amount of traffic.

W. As the advertisements are related to the theme of your Web pages, visitors to your site might be tempted to click the advertisement to see what is on offer. Google AdSense works best with content-rich Web sites.

This displays the HTML code that you need to insert on your Web pages to display AdSense advertisements.
Copy the HTML code from the Your AdSense Code box.
Paste the code at an appropriate place on one or more of your Web pages. And each time a user clicks a Google advertisement on your Web page, you will earn a specific amount as a reward for hosting the advertisement.
If your application is accepted, log onto your new AdSense account.
Click the AdSense Setup tab.
Now, click the AdSense for Content link.
Next, click the Single Page link and scroll down till you reach the Choose Ad Channels section.
Click the Add New Channel link. For instance, if you have a Web site on baby care, Google might display advertisements related to baby products, baby food, and baby health on your Web pages. If you enroll for AdSense, Google will display advertisements on your Web page that are related to the content on that page. AdSense is Google’s program for serving contextual advertisements on Web pages. Changing the code is against AdSense program policies and can also lead to errors on your page.

Follow similar steps for the AdSense for Search option, if required.

Google serves advertisements on your pages on the basis of the page content, visitor’s geographical location, and other factors. In addition, as the content of the advertisements is relevant to the content of the Web page, end users are not irritated by these ads. Although the amount associated with each click is quite minimal, the total amount you make can build up over time, especially if you have a high traffic Web site.

The best thing about Google AdSense is that it is a free program so you have got nothing to lose by trying it out on your Web site. Google administers the advertisements, keeps track of the clicks and impressions, and generates revenue accordingly.

In addition to displaying advertisements on your content pages, you can also earn money from AdSense by using Google’s AdSense for Search option. In addition, you don’t need to take on the headache of keeping track of clicks and impressions. This option enables you to add a Google search box on your Web pages.

This Heatwave is Not a Myth

Many of the extreme weather events will occur in areas that are already experiencing trouble producing their own food because of resource depletion, specifically in the developing world where hunger is already prevalent. June 21, 2005.

------

This article may be reprinted freely as long as this resource box is included. The last Ice Age was only 5-9 degrees colder than today's temperatures.

Myth #3: Global warming is a good thing; an extended warm season would be more comfortable and extend the growing season, thus increasing global food supplies.

Fact: While a small amount of warming might benefit some select regions, the negative effects of global warming will far outweigh any positives. It was provided by ACoolerClimate, a website devoted to creating a revolutionary movement by showing people how to help prevent global warming. Additionally, rising sea levels are predicted to displace 13 to 88 million people each year, placing a greater strain on agricultural lands. Insects that pose threats to the well-being of humans will experience an evolutionary advantage as a result of larger areas being hospitable to them for longer periods.

Myth #4: Like examples of the past, humans can easily adapt to the effects of global climate change, especially with current and future technologies.

Fact: Although humans can adapt to new climatic situations quite rapidly, there are several notable historical examples of major population decreases as a result of climate change. "The Latest Myths and Facts on Global Warming." Environmental Defense, 2005. More mild cold seasons will invite non-native species, threatening the livelihood of native plants (which will already be under stress). Additionally, conflict over food and water will likely have a ripple effect across the globe.

It is clear that the need to act on global, industrial, political, and individual levels is imperative to address one of the biggest environmental challenge humans as a species has ever seen. Since the Industrial Revolution, the world's consumption of fossil fuels has increased at an alarming rate and climate scientists consent that the combustion of these fuels are the primary culprits of global warming. While some animals and plants were able to adapt to slow changes over time, many will become extinct as a result of faster climate changes. Education is the first step; action is the next. The pressure from the movement of large groups of people displaced by global warming will be felt across borders, both political and socio-economic. So is misinformation. If industrialized nations are able to fufill the prophecy spoken by so many media pundits and invent their way out of this crisis with technology, those countries lacking the resources to do the same will be left h! igh and dry. and Michael Oppenheimer, PhD. The fallout from global warming will drastically impact all aspects of modern human life, as well as the global economy with which we are so intertwined.
Information is now being discovered and disseminated throughout the planet at an unprecedented rate. In contrast, scientists predict that the average global temperature will increase anywhere from 2.5 to 10.4 degrees F in the 21st century alone. Global warming has all the makings of a catastrophe, but the powers that be would rather that you did not realize that. [PDF]

"Myth Manners Thinks Abrupt Climate Change Would Be Rude." Grinning Planet. Skeptics are often spokespeople or "scientists" hired by industries that have a stake in new emission-cutting regulations or changes in consumer buying patterns that would curb global warming.

Myth #2: The current warming trend is just part of the natural cycle of rising and falling climate variation. If the global warming trend continues without action, the rate of increase and the degree of warming will exceed anything experienced since the beginning of human civilization. While this may seem like a small fluctuation on a regional scale, on a global scale it is significant. Some of the predicted effects of global warming include: drought, flooding rainstorms, forest fire, and species extinctions. Here are some basic facts about the reality of global climate change.

Myth #1: Within the scientific community, debate persists as to whether or not anthropogenic (human-caused) gases are the primary cause of global warming.

Fact: Worldwide, climate scientists are united in agreement that the current rise in greenhouse gases and global temperatures are directly correlated to human-related causes. There is virtually no disagreement about the fact that global temperatures are rising. Related Global Warming Article: Help Prevent Global Warming by Knowing Your Paper Recycling Facts The future is in our hands.

Sources:

Wang, James, PhD. Whatever debate exists does so in the popular media and political arenas. A small shift in degrees is not a big deal.

Fact: While climate change does follow a natural cycle of fluctuation in global and regional temperatures over time, we are experiencing a major increase in the rate at which climate change is occurring that does not fall within the normal boundaries of global climate cycles. Evolution requires time to change any given species-successful changes are made over thousands (or millions) of years.

Paper Recycling: The Little Old Lady factor

So in this article I would like to try again, with some more really close to home reasons.

Now if you would also like to know more about waste management find out about the amazing new waste technologies to find out about here.

If you wonder how we might put the clock back on climate change try this site about Anaerobic Digestion for power generation etc.

But, there is good reason to guard against complacency.

I would guess that more than half the paper waste which could have been recovered worldwide is still ending up in landfills, and most of that is paper used in factories, offices and homes. There must also be regular collection so that paper does not pile up and pose a fire hazard or attract pests.

Now think of all the different types of waste you throw away almost daily, and multiple the complexity of sorting, storing, handling and transporting these materials each to different recyclers. A recent report in the United Kingdom recently claimed that 80% of home owners in one area where happy to sort a very wide range of their rubbish items for separate kerbside collection by their local authority.

Recycling may be a growing business in worldwide, but there is much more that can be done, not only for paper but also materials such as glass, cans and plastic. Let us encourage the little old lady style of informal sector, especially in the developing nations where this job may be her only means of earning an honorable livelihood. Many people in many nations are still not aware of why they should recycle and how they could do so.

The little old lady collecting waste paper is not a negative in my view.

The issue is an important one because it shows that there is still a low level of environmental awareness among the general public. The developing nations are sure to follow. So will you join the trend? But, what do we think about the little old lady I mentioned at the start of the article? For many people these reasons simply are not compelling enough forests are a long way away for many of us, and still more of us simply switch-off when told yet again about climate change.
To see little old ladies pushing carts about town laden with old newspapers and card for recycling is a reassuring one from an environmental point of view - it shows that paper recycling is alive and kicking and it is a common sight in many developing cities. Although there are hundreds of private waste collectors, their efforts are hindered by the lack of waste separation at source in many homes, offices and factories.
T
aking just paper as an example, it must be separated in order to prevent contamination by food waste or other substances which can affect the recycling process. It will only be done if the public press their politicians to improve their record for recycling, and are willing themselves to do the work of sorting, washing, and storing individual waste items every day and putting them out for collection.

In many developed nations it is surprising how many people are willing to do this and indeed now see it as their duty. What would you think if the next landfill was going to be at the bottom of YOUR back garden?

So, I hope my additional reasons have been more convincing. In many nations we suspect that less than 20 per cent of ordinary paper is being recycled. Recycling will bring new business to local paper and it can be guaranteed that paper recycling businesses will grow and increase employment as a result.

My final reason is that filling up landfills means that new ones must be found as replacements. However, if she and thousands like her are going to be effective they need to be backed-up by a comprehensive recycling system on a large scale across the whole range of recyclable materials in the average waste bin.

Now we have all been told to recycle paper to save the forests, and to save the energy use of cutting down and shipping such vast amounts of paper around the world, which contributes to global warming.

So, overall it is the segregation, sorting and transporting recycled materials like waste paper to the recyclers where the most action is needed.

The reasons for recycling are simple enough: landfills almost everywhere are filling up more quickly than anticipated and so space must be conserved in every way possible.

This means reducing waste, whether by recycling, reusing or generating less waste, and exploring technical alternatives such as truly smokeless clean-burn incinerators.

Another good reason for reducing waste is that it can help your local industry. This is a massive undertaking, but it really has to be done to improve the sustainability of our cities and of our way of life.

Whereas some forms of paper such as cardboard (used in packaging, for example) have a high recycling rate of (in some nations reported to be about 80 per cent), ordinary paper is not nearly so well catered for.

Selling Your House? Simple Gardening Tasks Can Help

Spending some extra time on your landscaping before you list your house with a real estate agent can make a big difference in how long it takes a house to sell.

Think of it this way - would you feel comfortable with the idea of seeing a doctor if all the plants in his waiting room were dead? Overgrown Arborvitae growing near the house may need to be removed, as would any other fast-growing shrub that refuses to stay within its allotted space, and which would be nothing but bare sticks if it you cut it back.

If you do need to remove overgrown or dying foundation plantings, they can be replaced with fast-growing annuals or perennials. We ask ourselves if the walls need painting, should the carpets be cleaned or replaced, do any of the plumbing fixtures need to be repaired, etc. Some regular watering might revive it, but if things have gone too far, you may need to reseed the grass and start over. This might also be true in the back yard, if a large puppy or a team of budding football stars has worn ruts in the grass. Some ornamental shrubs and small trees can be pruned at almost any time, but others must be approached with more caution. Visit - www.BuyAHouseWithCash.com However, the item that is seen first, by every potential buyer that drives by your house, is your front lawn and garden. If you put out a drip hose and attach a timer, you won't need to do much more than pull an occasional weed to keep it looking nice.

A friend of mine recently sold her house, which was surrounded by a beautiful cottage garden that took her years to build. He did recently hire someone to cut down the overgrown grass, but I suspect he did so only in response to a complaint from the city authorities.

This attitude on the part of the seller reminds me of that ancient saying "penny-wise, pound foolish".

Fortunately, it doesn't take a whole lot of money to get most yards looking good, and it can make a huge difference in the curb appeal of your house. To see exactly how and when your shrubbery can be pruned, do a Google search for the particular type of plant, or find a good book on pruning at your local library. The owner lives out of town, and probably purchased the house as a rental. It does, however, take time - especially if the grass has been neglected for too long. Even if her buyer has to remove all those flowers because he can't take proper care of them, they still helped to create a positive impression with all that color. She knew that most people don't have time to care for so many different plants, and would prefer to simply water and mow the grass - so she made sure to list her house when her garden was at its peak. It doesn't take much time, but it can add that little touch of life that makes your house feel more like "home" to your potential buyers.

Jonni is the author of a new report that shows how she used easy ideas like these to sell her house fast - and how the profit allowed her to buy her next house with cash. Although houses in my city are selling ast this summer, and they don't stay on the multiple listing service for very long, a 'For Sale by Owner' sign has been in the window of a house down the street for months. Then ask your local nursery for suggestions - they'll be able to show you which plants will grow the fastest and fill in the empty space. Her home, surrounded by masses of color, was on the market for only a few weeks.

You can easily add a few spots of color to your yard without planting a perennial border of creating a cottage garden. Since the impression is on a purely emotional level, it may be difficult for your buyers to overcome.

There's a good example of this problem right now, in my neighborhood.
When we think about getting a house ready to sell, we often focus on the structure itself. One exceptionally easy trick is to buy a large planter that matches the color of your house, fill it with one small shrub from the nursery surrounded by fast-growing annuals, and place it just beside your front door. The same thing happens when people drive by a house that is surrounded by dying, weedy grass, overgrown bushes, and cracked sidewalks. The most important thing for the grass is to get it green again, and keep it mowed. It sets up some negative emotions, doesn't it? If dandelions have taken over, a neighborhood kid might be willing to pull them out, if the price is right.

If bushes along your fence are badly overgrown, they may need a hard pruning. First dig the soil as deep as you can and add compost and plant food to improve the soil's fertility. Now that home prices are higher, he's ready to sell, but he can't take care of the yard himself because he lives too far away.

Been Busy Hiring?

By the way the HVAC Company in Portland has a 95% retention rate in a very complex industry with a steep learning curve.

Cheryl Cran, CSP (Certified Speaking Professional) is the author of "50 Ways to Lead & Love It" and the January 2008 release by Career Press titled, "The Control Freak Revolution". Wait a sec, you might be asking what does hunting or fishing have to do with recruiting? They quickly discovered that their ideal demographic was men in their late 20's or early 30 who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
5 Ways to Keep the People You Have Hired and Get Them Up to Speed Quickly

It has been a busy time for recruiting. In the retreat they listed the characteristics of a perfect employee for their company.

In a survey conducted by Right Management 2006 showed that 68% surveyed stated
bad hires and promotions lead to lower morale, 66% said it led to lower productivity, 54% said it causes loss of customers and 51% said bad hires/promotions increased training costs. I know when I bring this one up people balk especially us Canadians. Find out what their lifestyle interests are, how can you tailor reward and incentive around the lifestyles of your employees? So guess where the HVAC Company went to recruit? Or did you just go for the 'warm body' to fill a position. If your hiring strategy is hit and miss and your training strategy is sink or swim and your retention strategy is that they should just be happy to get a paycheck you could find yourself on the hiring/re-hiring treadmill indefinitely.
94% experienced an increase in group cohesiveness
93% had increased communications among employees and employee satisfaction
92% saw an increase in employee creativity

If you have made it through the first 90 days of a new hire and you have training and retention plan in place then you are in good shape. Have you and your company recruited strategically? We need to set up our new hires for success by providing them with the training to do the job at the highest level. Among surveyed CIO's in order to retain employees: 63% are providing additional training opportunities and 47% are providing flexible work schedules (Robert Half Technology Survey of 1400 CIO's)

Step four: Cross-train. One reason the HVAC Company had men interested in hunting and fishing is because the company owner was an avid outdoorsmen and he would take his entire team on hunting and fishing excursions as reward and as incentive.

Step Two: If it's too late and you didn't hire strategically it is never too late to have a training and retention strategy.

Step One: Have a strategy before recruiting; take the time to identify theperfect fit, what their interests are, where to find them and how your company fits into their lifestyle.
An organization I have worked with provides HVAC services to developers in Portland. Last year they held a management retreat strictly focused on strategic hiring. Well if you are creative you will quickly put two and two together and know that hiring around lifestyle is a very smart thing to do. Many baby boomer leaders expect new hires to have common sense or to just know what needs to be done. Set up a simple process of buddy system information sessions for example pairing an operations role with a sales role and let them see a day in the life of each other's department.

Step three:Provide the training.

Survey results from," Fun Work Environment Survey," Sponsored by the Society for Human Resource Management
Companies who have 'fun' plans in the workplace:

79% companies had reductions in turnover
72% companies had decreases in absenteeism
72% companies saw reductions in employee conflicts

95% indicated an increase in the ability to attract new employees
95% of the respondents reported increases in employee enthusiasm as a result of the fun. Bringnew hiresup to super speed by having them cross train with cross-functional departments. It's called work for a reason, is a typical baby boomer response to the 'fun' word. Yup, the local hunting and fishing games show and they recruited six 'perfect profile' employees into the company.

The HVAC Company described above did the first step in keeping the people they recruited and getting them up to speed quickly.

Strategic recruiting means you will get new hires up to speed quicker and increase the likelihood that new hires will stick around longer then you can say 'pay period". In my research even tired and burned out baby boomers are looking for a little levity along with their Generation X and Y counterparts.

Step Five: Create outlets for fun. It is eye opening and builds team at the same time. Then they listed the common traits that long term, high performing employees had in common. Check out Cheryl's site www.cherylcran.com to find out more. What do you mean fun? Employees that have a deeper understanding of the overall company operations tend to buy in faster to the culture, the goals and their role in the company success. Stephen Covey says; fail to plan-plan to fail.

Synthetic Grass: An Increasingly Popular Alternative for the Yard

Or just simply "more time in the backyard".
and Australia are replacing their sod and natural grass with synthetic surfaces.

Appearance
Technology has vastly improved synthetic turf in the past decade. Gone are the days of neon-green Astroturf or knee-burning plastic-fibre carpets. Grey water systems can also address some of the problem, but the fact is that the chemicals and soaps in grey water collected from some of these systems can, if not treated properly, actually damage a lawn. With regular use, a grass lawn will develop dips, mounds, bumps, holes and other inconsistencies that can cause tripping, twisted ankles or other major injuries. More time for backyard footy. Maintaining a synthetic lawn is as simple as raking the leaves when needed, and an occasional topdressing of sand or rubber. More time for backyard cricket with the kids. When done right, a synthetic lawn or sports field is much safe than natural grass, hence the reason why more major sports organisations and schools in the U.S. Homeowners, councils, and property management companies spend large amounts of money on water, fertilize! rs, pesticides, chemicals, mowing and general labour to keep their natural grass in good condition.

Synthetic grass, however, requires none of these costly items. So at $50 to $100 per square metre (installed), the bulky up-front investment for purchase and installation of synthetic turf may seem expensive. But in reality, the costs over the long term are actually lower than that of natural grass. The new generation of synthetic turf also feels incredibly soft to the touch, which is a welcome addition for children and pets.

Cost
It is commonly believed that natural grass is much cheaper than synthetic grass â€ÂÂ" as grass seed or turf transplants are relatively inexpensive. The lawn is then in-filled with a combination of either rolled sand or crushed rubber, and then raked or brushed to ensure a consistent, flat, soft surface. When factoring in the 5- to 10-year cost of grass seed, water, fertilizers, lawnfeed and pesticides, as well as the labour and time to mow, trim, aerate, fill, mulch and maintain a natural grass lawn, it becomes clear that a synthetic lawn can pay for itself within a few years, depending on the size of the area and the quoted cost.

For the average homeowner, however, the most popular benefit of owning a synthetic lawn is “Time”. Similarly, more home builders, landscapers, and sports and commercial facilities are actively investigating and promoting synthetic surfaces, causing a dramatic surge in synthetic turf demand here in Australia.

There are many benefits to installing synthetic grass versus natural grass, here are just a few:

The Benefits of Synthetic Grass versus Natural Grass

Watering
With increasing Stage 3, Stage 4 and Stage 5 water restrictions in place across most of the country, water conservation is now at a critical point, and many homeowners are finding that they are simply not allowed to water their lawns.

Safety
Natural grass lawns and sports fields are rarely perfectly flat. Less time maintaining a lawn means more time enjoying it.
http://www.ddslandscaping.com.au

As Australia’s severe drought has turned many green, lush gardens and yards into brown, lifeless dustbowls, an increasing number of Australian homeowners are turning to synthetic turf as a viable solution. Apart from the inherent danger of exposure to children, pets and native animals in the neighbourhood, these products invariably migrate into the soil, groundwater, and eventually into lakes, streams or even the ocean. A synthetic lawn remains green, lush and soft regardless of climate changes, temperature or other environmental conditions, making it a logical and viable alternative for both home and business applications.

Maintenance
The hot and dry climates unique to Australia make natural grass very difficult (and costly) to maintain. Today, synthetic turf comes in different fibre lengths, colours and weaves, and is manufactured to exactly replicate the look and feel of natural rye, bermuda, bluegrass, centipede or virtually any type of natural grass available. Finally, for commercial applications, including football ovals, golf courses, retirement communities, property developments and sporting facilities, the cost and effort to transport water via a pipe system or truck can be prohibitive (and, as has been seen in the news, can anger a town’s residents by using this precious resource for a non-vital purpose) .

Synthetic grass, on the other hand, requires no watering, thus helping Australians to conserve water.

Synthetic Grass, on the other hand, requires no chemicals or pesticides for maintenance, and provides a safe, healthy environment for families and the public. In addition, many synthetic turf manufacturers will apply a special UV coating to protect the lawn against the harsh ultraviolet rays of the sun â€ÂÂ" ensuring that the synthetic grass will not fade or weaken with age.

Environment
As mentioned above, maintaining a natural grass lawn requires regular use of fertilizers, chemicals and pesticides. This can have significant long-term effects on the planet’s plants, animals, the air we breathe and the food we eat.

A properly-installed synthetic lawn, however, is most commonly built on top of flat, level ground (usually excavated and grated), which contains one or two layers of compacted, crushed base and a layer of foam padding. While rainwater tanks can certainly alleviate the problem in the short term, they really only work if there is adequate rainfall to fill them up.

The unnoticed importance of the Spark PlugÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs Heat Range and itÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs Impact in the Environment

We would then condemn the future generations to an obscure, inhospitable world, in which scarce food and the lack of health would be the norm.

It is clearly then that it is an indispensable imperative to dominate the sooner the polluting gas discharge of the vehicles that at the moment are circulating on the Earth. Let me explain you why.

When talking with automotive experts, every one of them talks about the releases generated by automobiles that were not well tuned which had the incorrect mixture of air and gas, either too rich or too poor. To try to find the spark plug with the perfect heat range for each situation can be endless, boring, expensive and highly risky since an error in the selection can put in serious risk the engine.

Luckily in recent times was released to the market the ultimate tuning device, the Spark Plug Heat Range Determinator.

But no one considered that even with the correct mixture, the vehicles could dangerously increase their emissions, if they had sparkplugs with a Heat Range that is no the best suited, to any individual driving habits and/or engine conditions. Only by this we will be really making something effective that allow us to inherit to our descendants a healthful and livable planet.

Is it only a dream?

The real life of any vehicle demands a customization that is not included in the information contained in these catalogues.

Selecting the colder or hotter spark plugs needed in order to fit perfectly the incomparable and unique mixture of driving habits, life’s styles and states of maintenance and exigencies of each engine, are not easy tasks. It is not as simple as to change one or two codes of heat range.

Could you sometimes before have been imagined that the apparently humble spark plug could have been so powerful and so valuable?

Moreover it is more often occasions than believed, it is necessary to change much more of 10 codes before finding the spark plug that fits exactly with the needs of each person in particular.

Bravo!

The devastating effects over the life and the conditions of the environment are so great, that if they do not rush in modifying the toxic mechanisms and technologies, we could go to the edge of the abyss, from which we would not have the way to go out unharmed. This new product was recognized by Cal EPA/ARB. The unique on the planet to precisely select the heat range of the spark plugs that any driver needs.

It is almost a blind guesswork. The spark plug’s catalogues are not the best guide because only has the suggestion of the stock spark plug, and it is only good to any vehicle at manufacturing time. It is time to have your own.
In recent years, humanity has become aware of the great dangers that emissions, which, due to development and modernity are being released increasingly to the Environment, represent in the future. Is it something almost impossible to reach?
Believe it or not, it is not only possible, but also immediate, cheap, and easy to reach.

All what is necessary is to customize the selection of the heat range of the spark plug to be installed in any gasoline vehicle all around the Earth. These emissions are originated from factories, machines and vehicles, as well as from different products for industrial and domestic use.

ÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂEnvironmentalÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂàGroup Supports and Encourages Generation of Toxic Waste

Just more examples of "better than you" types of groups that do for themselves exactly what they preach that you shouldn't do!

The big “thing” which is promoted at “no dirty gold” is the use of recycled gold. They imply that since recycled gold is already out of the ground, it is therefore somehow more environmentally friendly. It's like a bunch of crack addicts holding a protest against crack makers, when they are the ones who buy the product and keep the makers in business. The facts just don’t support the charge. You know they all live in houses plumbed with "dirty" copper pipe, their houses are also wired with copper, they drive cars wired with copper, use computers and cell phones wired with copper, etc. Is there any validity to their claim that recycled gold is somehow environmentally better than newly mined gold? Mining is one of the most heavily regulated businesses out there. Not just their phones and TVs, but the very computers they use to create their website to bash the mining industry contains that same "dirty" gold they are ! condemning, and telling you not to use!
While this seems like an incredibly odd statement, it is very true and I state plainly it to make a point. All of these anti-mining organizations use the very products they condemn.

The truth is that mining companies are subject to thousands upon thousands of laws limiting their effects on the environment. They have little expertise or knowledge in the environmental field, and even less concerning the mining industry, and without evidence they claim that somehow all mining destroys the land or is a horrible threat to someone. The folks in the nearby town are glad to have them in their county - for many years it has been the county's largest business and their taxes pay a considerable portion of the county budget. You can note from their website that there is virtually no documentation for any of their allegations - its because 99% of the allegations are simply baseless. So what do they accomplish? The "not in my backyard" perspective promoted by these groups is actually a very selfish and self-centered one.

So don’t buy the baloney, don’t fall for the lie, don’t drink the Kool-Aid! Not a darn thing except fund raising!

The organization is totally hypocritical as the people who run the website drive around in their cars made of newly mined "dirty" iron, zinc, copper, etc. Think about it â€ÂÂ" there is actually more pollution created on a worldwide basis than if those resources were mined simply here and used here because of our strong environmental laws. Supporting mining in the USA actually reduces worldwide pollution. Most of these operations make highly efficient use of donated money to help those who are down and out. I have spent time at a Couer mine here in Nevada â€ÂÂ" and know it to be a clean operation. These companies must obtain and hold dozens of permits governing the impacts their operations. "Dirty" platinum and palladium reduces the smog emissions of the "dirty" gasoline they burn to run their dirty cars. The environmental impacts from that mine beyond their property boundary are near zero. “No Dirty Gold” is not the only one of the! se scammers. Responsible companies, irresponsible, no distinction is made â€ÂÂ" all are deemed evil and the baby is cast out with the bathwater. So in the end they really are encouraging and supporting the generation of increased amounts of toxic waste. Of course not! I have been there in person to see it. According to them, there is no acceptable gold mining, without exception â€ÂÂ" all newly mined gold is termed “dirty gold”. Yet this is one of the companies repeatedly attacked by “no dirty gold” on their web site. Here in the US, they must pay the government in advance for the cost for the reclamation for any land disturbed by their operations.

If you want to give some money to make the world a better place, find the local homeless shelter in your community. There is an anti mining website ["nodirtygold.org"] that was created by a left leaning group of folks which people sometimes ask about. Most recycled gold is recovered from computers and other electronics parts. The gold, copper and other resources have to come from somewhere, so it gets mined in Bolivia, or Namibia or someplace like that. The Couer mine I have visited is their silver and gold mine at Rochester in Nevada. These countries are poorly prepared to regulate the mines there and as a result, more pollution is created than per pound of metal mined than there would be if it were just mined here. That mine is highly regulated and very clean. They use the ! very "dirty" gold and silver they condemn in the contacts of all their electronic devices. However this is not 1877, and things have changed. Any money donated to “no dirty gold” is wasted and accomplishes nothing of significance.

Environmentally speaking, recycled gold is probably WORSE than newly mined gold as far as pollution created per ounce of gold. Yes, a century ago, miners made some serious environmental impacts. So don't let an extremist website full of baloney, that offers few if any facts to support their allegations convince you somehow that all newly mined gold and silver are somehow "dirty". The lie they don’t tell you is that the process of recycling gold involves the use of strong acids (creating hazardous wastes) and incineration of plastic electronic components (creating serious air pollution emissions and even more toxic waste). There are others like “Great Basin Mine Watch”, a phony organization located right here in my hometown of Reno. They love their nice luxurious electrically enhanced lives, and so! are hypocrites to the extreme. But they have to keep up the lie so the money continues flowing into their coffers.

One of nodirtygold's chief targets is Couer 'Alene Mines. They must pay for their own reclamation before they even turn their first shovel full of dirt.

George Bush Bill Clinton Devastated the Mexican Californian Beaches

Pope Benedict XVI has warned against the seductive nature of science.

The end of tourism will be the least of our worries.

Professor David Karl, an oceanographer at the University of Hawaii says that the plastic is not biodegrading, and modern plastic is so durable that 50 year old plastic is in the soup.

Pope Benedict XVI is a champion of the environmental movement and has urged all Catholics to become environmentalists. W.

The Clinton and Bush families are the canidates of change. In fact the Earth only has one ocean. Hillary Clinton just loaned $5M dollars to her campaign. Which right is more important than the right to poison free air, soil, water and food? Did they buy them at Wal Mart? Curtis Ebbesmeyer, an oceanographer says that when the plastic soup comes near land, as it does at the Hawaiian archipelago, the gargbage patch vomits, and you get a beach covered with this plastic. White females over 50 and Latinos say that Bill and Hillary Clinton have more experience than Barack Obama, as if the number of years in politics means wisdom, and sound judgment. It is twice the size of the United States. The great Pacific Ocean Plastic Garbage Dump, the Pacific Ocean Plastic Soup, now stretches from 500 miles off the California coast, past Hawaii almost to Japan. This money came from the $10 Million dollars per year being payed by the Emir of Dubai to Bill Clinton for doing absolutely ! nothing. People think that times were good under the Clintons, in the time that the world was turning into a poisonous greenhouse and the ocean was turning into a deadly plastic garbage dump. The toxic plastic and poison chemicals are now contaminating the American rivers and lakes too.

White females over 50 and Latinos are handing Hillary Clinton the Presidency because they trust the bought off by the oil executives, corrupt, lying Clintons who got us all into this mess. Now the U.S., the world’s largest polluter, under the leadership of George Bush has gutted the Bali Climate Change Agreement of all substance. Which Democratic Presidential candidate voted to waste American lives and money in Iraq as her Saudi Arabian and Persian Gulf benefactors lined her pockets with gold for the right to poison your children to death? Bush, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and George W. Now the kaka has hit the fan. How did Saudi Arabia and Dubai buy the Bush and Clinton families so cheaply? Our own experience has been that Bill Clinton has repeatedly demonstrated an inability to resist temptation. W. Bush called the world’s environmentalists “the spotted owl crowd”.
George H. George H. Plastic is made from oil. Simpson, while we ignore the greatest crisis this nation has ever faced.”

The definition of insanity is when a person is a danger to themselves or others because they do not understand the nature and consequences of their actions. based Research Triangle Institute says that “Every little piece of plastic manufactured in the past 50 years that made it into the ocean is still out there.” The Pacific Ocean now has billions of tiny plastic pellets, nurdles, which combine with man made poison petrochemicals, the toxic pesticide DDT, which are eaten by the fish on your child’s dinner plate. The Catholic Church has taken a firm stance against global warming. Bush have been running the world’s only superpower for the past 20 years. Tony Andrady, a chemist with the U.S. Our experience shows us that if Hillary Clinton, a puppet of the oil executives, bought and paid for by the oil barons, becomes President, then when she leaves office, the entire Pacific Ocean and its beaches will be a deadly plastic garbage ! dump.

In return for the money, the Bush and Clinton families have agreed to allow Saudi Arabia and Dubai to buy America’s banks, (Hillary O.K.’d this in the Nevada debate), part of Daimler Chrysler, large stakes in America’s corporations, America’s ports, (remember Bush and Cheney pushing for the Dubai ports deal?), and the Bush and Clinton families have agreed to kill any world environment treaties like Kyoto and Bali which would hamper the Saudi and Persian Gulf States’ exporting of 10 million barrels per day at $100 per barrel, a billion dollars every day. Hopefully the Messiah isn’t planning on doing much scuba diving or surfing off the Pacific Coast of Mexico, California or Hawaii because thanks to our political leaders for the past 20 years the Pacific Ocean has now become a gigantic, poisoned, deadly garbage dump of contaminated plastic being eaten by the fish on your childrens’ plate.

In a recent interview with Time Magazine Al Gore said, “When I was in the Snow and Ice Data Center receiving a full briefing on the polar ice caps, afterwards I would turn on my TV and there were two networks with the bulletin: Britney Spears loses custody of her children. Well now the chickens have come home to roost on their horizontal rods. Charles Moore said this week that on our present course the Pacific Plastic Stew will double in size over the next 10 years. Look at your child’s globe.

The Bush Clinton American Royal family for the past 20 years tried to sweep this all under the rug. George Bush had Philip Cooney of Exxon Mobil change scientific research to say that there was no human made global warming, and Republicans have been duped into believing this. We’re living in a madhouse if our priorities focus on the embalming of Anna Nicole Smith, or the trial of O.J. God the Father carved in stone, “Don’t Murder, or else I will punish you, your children, your grandchildren and your great grandchildren.” Don’t Murder means don’t murder people or poison to death the parts people are made of, air, water and earth.

If you put a frog in water and then gradually raise the temperature the frog will boil to death. In 1998 under intense pressure from their main sponsors the big oil companies, Bill and Hillary Clinton refused to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. If you throw a frog into boiling water it will get very hot and jump out.

Charles Moore, an oil heir, sold his business, and became an oceanographer.

The prophet Isaiah said that the name of the Messiah would be Emanuel, the middle name of A-Rod, meaning God is with us. The leaders of Saudi Arabia gave $10 million to the Bill Clinton Presidential Library and hundreds of millions to the Bush family. He meant that the environmentalists were choosing to save the spotted owls to the detriment of human beings. They have changed the Garden of Eden into a toxic wasteland. Cesar Chavez was a Mexican American civil rights activist.
